"So you're still making money off the non-sharp accounts." Yeah...this interview started to run in circles at the end...but the series is great. What a coup to have John T willing to give the Pinnacle point of view.

In conclusion pinnacle makes money from losing sports bettors. Never would have guessed this.

Yep there could have been a lot more interesting questions than the same old "but you still make money..." thing, but it's a nice series. You could have asked stuff like "how fast do those sharp bets come in on openers, does it feels like some ppl just wait for your line to hammer it like 5 seconds after it is up?".
I would have liked to know that.

Seriously... how about we vote on 10 questions that we'd like to hear answers to... instead of just rehashing the obvious. While I do enjoy the series - it could be much better if only better questions were asked.

                              jairocon,

Thanks for your feedback. All the questions for this segment of the follow-up interview as well as the first two segments from it, were in fact taken from suggestions from SBR posters, posted in the thread from the first interview.

We solicited questions from the forum, and in fact, every single question suggested by SBR posters was sent to Pinnacle as a possible question. Some they did not want to address, for a variety of reasons, but any reasonable question that does not involve proprietary information, they are happy to answer.

We will arrange a third call with them if there is an interest in it, and as always, the questions and topics will all come from the SBR posters.

Please do post the questions you'd like to see asked, and we will try our best to get to them in a future call.

                              Thanks!

I'm not sure about consensus questions, but here is what I'd like to know...

Is juice the only way they make profit ??
What other strategies do they implement if that is not always the case ?

What percentage of all players @ pinnacle are net losers ?

And, how is sharp activity during the time between the opener until tipoff ? Do sharps usually bet early ?

                                Thanks

Observation of line movements would answer this question just as well as asking him the question. Pinny lines get lit up regularly just after release and when the limits are raised on gameday. It's not uncommon to sit and wait for the line to come out to immediately hit it.

                                    1) How many significant players (in terms of both bet size and how sharp the bettor is) are active at Pinnacle? Or to ask another way, how many individuals are really driving the Pinnacle market in the major american sports (particularly NBA/NFL/NCAAB/NCAAF)?

                                    2) Does Pinnacle have plans to expand the selection of their MMA offerings at any point? They're currently quite limited, and I suspect Pinnacle would receive a lot more action on these events if more options were available. The sport is expanding rapidly.

                                        Dear Client,

We currently do not have any plans on expanding the selection on our MMA offerings.

Below is a list of the events offered at Pinnacle Sports.

We offer all UFC, UFN and Dream events. We offer limited betting options on WVA, WEC, Elite XC, Strike Force, Affliction and Icon. Depending on the quality of the participants, we offer very limited wagering on CR (Cage Rage) and K-1.

We apologize, but only those available on the site will be offered.

If you have any suggestions or request, please inform us.

                                        Kind regards,

Americans may not be allowed to play but don't think for a moment that a lot of US money isn't being bet at Pinnacle.

Now that would be an interesting line of questioning if they were prepared to comment on it.

Of course. Despite the high odds they offer. Many high income people playing high stakes with pinnacle more or less neutralise the higher odds. The higher the stakes the less juice the sportsbook need to take, less risk especially backed by shareholders.
In gambling less than 10% of the players wins this is why we have SBR site still alive today.

I think 2% would be a better estimate, and that includes people who just barely win or roughly break even.

After listening to these well done interviews I have come to the conclusion that there is really no such thing as a "sharp", "square" etc. and these are just made up industry terms. Books look to level off the action as best they can. If a guy with a few bucks in his pocket makes a heavy play on team A, the book makes the proper money adjustment to get more interest in side B. Giving the guy a label is irrelevent.
