So let me get this straight, 5dimes (who I personally never had a run-in with before) can post a bad line, let that line sit there for days take bets on it, not notice it until the tournament is already off, then change and/or cancel a bet? So if Watney was behind 10 strokes would've it been a bad line after they took all the bets for him?

I've had bets w/ bad lines before, they were always noticed no more than a couple of hours. Never days!!! Furthermore, I was contacted politely by cs explaining a bad line was posted and funds were returned and was offered to bet again with the corrected line if I wished to do so. I was never blamed, accused, or insulted. My stomach is turned by the demeanor of this Tony guy and how he spoke to you. How can 5dimes claim to be a top book if they don't even know their own lines for days and days, takes bets on them, then decide they posted a bad line after the player/team was leading in the tournament and/or game?

So in essence, this can be a scam (not saying it is) but post lines... take money on them, wait til the event kicks off, if the player/team looks like they'll win, cancel the bet. .... hmmm...hmmm

Like I said earlier in this thread. I do understand if an obvious bad line is up and played gets corrected later and all bets refunded or canceled. Isn't it the books responsibility to put up accurate lines? I do however see Tony's point. He felt as though someone was taking a shot at a bad line and confronted the individual. Maybe it was wrong to automatically assume the player knew it was a bad line and was taking a shot. I could very well have been just as this person has stated. I think this could have been handled in a better way.

The sad part is that their props are fun to bet. I was having lots of fun betting golf each week. I was watchng the Golf Channel, betting the Euro tour, everything.

Tony blew it. He deserves to lose business because of it. I was SICK when I couldn't log in and he started accusing me in chat. You have to remember, at that time Watney was just about to tee off and he was up 3....and only had to finish in the top 20 for me to win over 8K.

He ended up having to birdie two out of the last three holes just to tie for 18th, or else he would have been out of the top 20. I didn't even know what I was rooting for by the end of the day. Then I needed Bubba Watson in the Playoff and he choked like an idiot...then he tells everybody he just wanted to be on the Ryder Cup team....lol.

Is there another book out there that has props similar too or close too good as the ones offered at 5dimes you could play at?

You make a good point, but I am telling you that when I bet it I thought it was a good line, albeit a line that was to my advantage. I made a decent play on it. I cannot email them every time I see a line worth betting because by then the line could change.

I bet $250 at 20-1. I checked later when I was betting some more PGA and saw that they adjusted it to 15-1. Now I know it is a good line so I bet another $250 at 15-1 and they adjusted it to 10-1 after I bet.

It was a nice line and that is why I bet. Nobody ever heard of this guy, though, and I can almost guarantee that if I asked the average golf fan what odds Nick Wantey should be to win and make the top 20 that none of them would get close to the true number.

He could see by my plays that I was all over the place. I bet many people who could not win.

Seriously, I have only used them with free plays and such. So, I have not had a run in with them, but this has been a consistent theme. There are many people out there saying that Tony is a real idiot.

I don't think. I can't get a Pinnacle account....they used to have good props, but since I am from the United States I can't play there.

It is a shame, too, because if Tony was a human being and there weren't similar stories as mine out there, then he could really clean up. To me, the risk is not worth the reward, even though they have a bunch of props that are fun to bet.

I bet $10 on Luis Oosthazen to win the British Open.....he was 450-1. I had never heard of him, but I bet all of the longest shots. After the first round I looked him up and saw that he was actually ranked in the top 55 or so in the world. I couldn't believe it. How was he 450-1?

After the first round Oosty was 33-1 and he was in 2nd. After the second round Oosty was 4.5-1 and he was up 5! Now, after seeing that crazy shit how can it be obvious that Nick Watney should be 2-1 to finish in the top 20?

I had never heard of either of these guys until this summer.

In all honesty though, when your betting props or futures what is a good and/or bad line. It's not like it's an NFL game that's -3.5 and you see it's posted at -30.5.

I don't see Tony's point. The company he works for posted a bad line (which we don't even know is the case.) so he has a right to confront him. NO !!!!!! He should apologize to the customer because they (5dimes) made a mistake and posted an inaccurate line, refund his money, offer him to bet again on the adjusted line, and maybe give him a free $10 parlay or something for their troubles. Tony had no point. As far as I'm concerned, a posted bad line should be noticed before kick-off, tee-off, first pitch, etc, etc... If not action should stand.

Tony's (whoever this guy is) is unprofessional and should be fired !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would settle for a refund of my $1,300 in future bets. I have $250 on Tennesse Titans to win the Super Bowl. $250 on TCU to win the National Title. and about $800 worth of Super Bowl matchup bets.....like $30 on Philly to play Green Bay in the Super Bowl.....I have about 25 of those.

As the idiot Tony can see, I am just having fun making plays. Just looking to get season long roots....like TCU will likely go undefeated but would nead a bunch of luck to get to the title game, but I could still root against all of the other teams all year.

Fun plays....just like my golf. Tony is a loser.

He owes me the difference in the odds he cheated me out of, but I have a hard time thinking I can get anything else since I will never play there again. There was an attempt to have a forum guy intervene, but I got the word that I was out of luck.

Now, Tony gets to face the music. Sorry, Tony. You deserve it.

I agree with those posters who have said that Tony has the right to correct the line when a bad one was hung, although even that becomes sketchy when dealing with props when they're one of the only prop books in town. Obviously he should let one of his CS reps handle the communication of that adjustment because he sure as hell has no people skills, but at the end of the day, the book does have that 'right' (if rights even exist in the offshore world at all).

The part that doesn't sit well with me at all is the fact that the line was adjusted downward twice after the OP's initial bet and before the tournament started. Someone is adjusting those lines on their end, not once but twice. And the OP's subsequent bets were accepted on those adjusted lines. Taking a true shot to me is seeing a weak line and hammering it. In this case I would've been more than likely to act the same way as the OP: You make a bet, the line starts to drop for whatever reason so you put more on it. That price drop could be due to any number of legitimate factors and just like with a regular ML bet, unless it's the public hammering a favourite, I'd be thinking that the line movement indicated I had made a decent bet.

To alter the OP's bets on the final day of a tournament is inexcusable in my opinion. I'm in 100% agreement with the OP - if this Watney dude hadn't have been leading going into the Sunday, he never would've heard a peep from Tony and his money would have been quietly flushed away. The whole thing just stinks. I have an unused account with 5dimes opened solely because of their tennis props but I will guarantee they will never see one cent from me as I can see myself exactly in this scenario.

5dimes at it again i see

I use them for my odds they have the best ones, but when i see stories like this, makes me wonder.

Few years back I used a local who went through 5dimes. He gave me a couple thousand credit, make a long story short, I profited about $5000 and some change off of hockey games and horses. The local couldn't believe it and I never heard from him again and my account was deleted.

Now Im not sure if this was something I could go after 5dimes with or the local, so I said, **** it, it was all credit no deposit so it was a no loss for me.

Now..lol...I use 5dimes, (not credit, i deposited) and only because of these odds, i love their odds. But I do notice they love to say your wagers a loss faster then when it is a winner. And sometimes it penetrates me when trying to bet a game that comes on right after a game that just ended that I placed a bet on....

but all and all...they have been fair to me, but if something like this EVER happens to me...I will make sure all forums know about it

ok this watney line. what if watney wasnt in the lead going into round 4 and instead was tied for 37th place. would tony still have pulled his skirt up and started crying or would he of just let it go cause player had no chance to win?

Well put. I had been watching this golf weekly for about a month, even though I kinda pay attention to the majors each year. Now, I also saw that Steve Elkington was 350-1 to win it all. He had won the PGA in 1995 or 1996 and I noticed that he had come in the top 25 or so in the Canadian Open a few weeks before, so he seemed to be in top form.

So I bet $10 on Elkington and he damn near won the thing. The Watney odds looked good to me, but not obviously bad, so I bet....just like you said. Plus, they always overbet the favorites in these tourneys so the value is on the guys who might slip through the cracks but are strong players.

Like Watney and Oosthazen. I mean, that is the whole point of scrolling through the hundreds of prop bets....to find a few good ones. I sure played enough stone cold losers that I should be able to bet a few lines that seem like good bets. Bubba Watson had been playing well, but he was over 100-1 the whole time....I think I got him at 125-1 for about $70 in total plays. Seemed like a good bet to me, so I took it.

Books are angle-shooters....just like when they list someone in the Kentucky Derby Futures wagering where the horse is already out of the running. Those plays stand even if the horse has a broken leg at the time of the bet.

They put up odds all day long of 100-1 or 200-1 where the true odds are really a few thousand to one. Doesn't 5Dimes have a field bet to win the NCAA Football BCS Championship game? It is mathematically impossible for anyone to win who isn't listed. It really is, but I think they have odds on that. They want that bet.

I came to SBR this evening to bitch about Bookmaker selling my address to mailing list. Funny thing is, reading this thread made me forget about my complaints. I think I'm going to cancel my 5dimes account tomorrow because of this thread and refer to Tony as feedback when I cancel.

Keep raising hell here ... seriously, you have recorded proof, don't let this one get swept under the rug. SBR needs to stand up for you on this one if not for any reason other than the way this Tony guy acted, accused and treated you.

Best Wishes... I'm bookmarking this thread so please keep us informed

This happened to me today and frequently. I have noticed on numerous occasions that when a wager is lost it is immediately graded, but winning wagers sometimes take hours to be graded. I don't understand why because I have plenty of money in my account and was in no hurry to get the winnings, but it just seems like it's done on purpose. Maybe I am wrong, but today I had 2 wagers on the same match. One lost and one won. Of course I had to wait for the winner to be graded. Don't understand the reasoning for that.

So how does a line get adjusted from an initial posting and it's not noticed as an incorrect line after it's first adjustment?

    Something isn't right here!!!!!!!

The way he played the final round makes the odds seem legit to me. He choked and is lucky that Dustin Johnson got the two shot penalty because people can hardly rememember the Watney choke now.

Plus, I bet it at 20-1 and 15-1, and then it went to 10-1 after my second bet. Now, that means that they are saying the 10-1 should have been 1-1......now that is a bad bet.

I wish I would have never heard the name Nick Watney. I don't know whether I am happy or sad that he choked like he did. He almost fell out of the top 20, if you can believe that.

And I never heard of Luis Oosthazen until after I bet $10 on him. Then, after the first round I figure out he is a pretty good player. There is lots of value in golf. No way Oosthazen should have been 450-1 to win the British....he had already won a Euro tournament this year and was ranked top 50 or top 55 in the world.

So, when I saw the Watney odds I figured they were pretty good for me, since a few of these no-name players become noticeable when you watch golf each week for a month.

Tony sucks. The facts are the facts. The odds are great that he took some type of shot against me. He deleted the archives because he didn't think I copied the plays. That speaks volumes right there.

And that's the whole reason I love betting props when I think to and why I could see myself getting screwed there in the same way. The value in props is to ignore the favourites and do research into the players/teams with a larger line to see if you can find something with a decent shot of winning. You take your chance on something that the book has hung as a long-shot when in reality the player may have a better chance than the line indicates.

Why was that line adjusted downward twice finally resting at 10-1? Why wasn't it dropped immediately to 3-1 at the time of the first adjustment? Even if Tony was given 100% benefit of the doubt - which he shouldn't be based on his past behaviour, but let's say for hypothetical sake - then whomever adjusted those lines twice to 15-1 and 10-1 is at fault here, not you. That's an issue he should be taking up internally if that's the case. I'm not saying it has never happened in the history of bookmaking but I personally have never heard of a book adjusting a line twice only to turn around and say it was a bad line after the fact. A bad line is hung and it's corrected when it's spotted, if it eventually is. If it was such a bad line, why didn't the person who made even one of the two adjustments recognize that fact and take action to correct it immediately? Throw in Watney's position in the tournament going into Sunday and even the most ardent 5dimes supporter should have a few doubts as to Tony's true intentions here.

The really sick part is that no matter what...I never had a shot to pick up the 9.2K total form that play that Sunday. The plays were changed, but even if they weren't I might have suffered an even greater torture watching him collapse for 5 hours and only getting 3-4K instead of a return of 9K (because of the 6 way tie for 18th).

I might be psychologically better off that loser Tony scammed me. Imagine having a guy up 3 heading into the final round and not being able to finish clear-cut top 20. Wow.

You know what? After I saw the line adjusted to 10-1 that Tuesday I never checked back to see what he went off at the start on Thursday. It could be that they realized they put up a bad line, and maybe it was 2-1 at post time, but maybe it was 10-1.

But that makes my case even better. If it was still 10-1 at post time then they had plenty of time to adjust the line and realize the mistake (if there was one). However, it is even worse if the line was 2-1 at the start, because that would mean that they had to know about my plays and that Tony decided to take a shot at me.

    They are wrong either way.

If you haven't already, I'd strongly suggest you fill out a sportsbook complaint form so someone here with some actual power to negotiate on your behalf will get involved. And thank you for sharing your experience with them. Your story was the final straw for me when it comes to this book as your situation hits a little too close to home for me as a prop bettor from time to time myself.

    some of you guys...

Tony is 100% in the right here. The only surprising thing is that he spent so much time on the chat. Maybe he wanted to find out if you took a shot on purpose or by accident. Whatever you want to say about Tony, he doesn't cheat. He takes great pride in running a high quality operation, and if you don't know the rules that's not his fault. I'm assuming that the progression he kept repeating in the chat is accurate, and based on that have absolutely no idea how you could argue the fact that the line was bad.

So, for future reference, at any book, if you see a line that looks too good to be true, ask the book about it.
