Trezor and Electrum with have bitcoin cash wallets. You can extract private keys and place ECH in any supporting ECH wallet.

MPS posted some good thoughts on this above. I don't have an opinion on what will happen. August 1st should be fun.

Not many probably use Circle anymore. But another press release from an exchange.

    Hello,
Based on recent bitcoin developments, it’s likely that a fork is coming. This could cause significant disruptions on the network. As always, we want to make sure your funds are safe.

    Sends/receives temporarily suspended
Starting at 5:00 p.m. EDT on Monday, July 31, 2017 (9:00 UTC), we’ll temporarily disable bitcoin transactions. You won’t be able to send bitcoin, and if you receive bitcoin, it will be credited to your account after we lift the suspension. We’ll do this once the network has stabilized, which is expected to happen on or before Friday, August 4, 2017.

Please note: During this time, the value of bitcoin may decrease. Also, if two bitcoin blockchains do emerge, we may never support the new version and any value on it could potentially be lost to you.

Moving bitcoin prior to the suspension
You can choose to move your bitcoin. Send it to an exchange or wallet that supports multiple forks, generate a bitcoin address there and move your Circle balance before the suspension takes effect. (Please be aware that they may also have their own suspensions). Alternatively, if your account is enabled for it, go to settings and convert your bitcoin balance into US dollars, Euros, or Pounds Sterling.

We’ll make sure you know if there are any other changes as things progress.
    Thanks so much,
    Team Circle

So let's say you park your btc in Electrum. Electrum doesn't support BCC. So you'd have to use the private key to get the bcc in some other wallet. Which wallets support bcc?

Trezor will have for sure and a solution supposedly will be coming out from Electrum. Things are changing by the minute so a lot is just speculation at this point. Personally, I'm waiting a few days before deciding where to hold BTC.

As long as your money isn't in an exchange that doesn't guarantee receiving BCC, you'll have both coins.

It's totally cool to send massive amounts to Bitfinex. If anything, they're the privacy minded investor's favorite Exchange.

But, if you want to diversify, that's getting easier by the hour. Two more exchanges just announced they'll be awarding BCC to their clients: Bittrex and Gemini. So now there's a total of 4 safe exchanges for Tuesday: Bitfinex, Kraken, Gemini and Bittrex.

    1. Exchanges that WILL award you your BCC on Tuesday: Bitfinex, Gemini, Kraken, Bittrex.

    2. Exchanges that WON'T award you your BCC on Tuesday: Bitstamp, Coinbase

    3. Exchanges that haven't declared yet: Poloniex and GDAX, but GDAX is co-owned w/ Coinbase, so I'd assume they'll be a no.

So, if you only want to deposit, trade, and withdraw cryptocurrencies (and not withdraw fiat), bitfinex don't require any personal information? Will they care if it was sent from a sportsbook? Any limits on coin withdrawals?

Sure send all your bitcoins to an exchange because there is no chance an exchange like BTC-E can steal from you when they get busted. I love these threads with all these people giving advice on what to do.

Can you site specifics? The only exchange that's behaved unfairly in the last year that I can think of is when Polo led people to believe they were going to distribute the STR/XLM from Stellar Lumens' giveaway last month, then reneged.

It's the right move. Most of my BTC's now at Bitfinex, with some at Bittrex and some at Kraken. (Once Bittrex and Kraken also announced they'd be awarding BCC, there was no longer a need for me to move it).

    1. Correct, as long as you stay away from fiat -- and you don't need fiat; if you ever need move dollars, pm me and I'll introduce you to the magic of a coin called Tether -- you don't have to give Bitfinex any personal info.

    2. Bitfinex is privacy minded; they couldn't care less where the deposits come from.

    3. Hmm, I'm not sure how to answer whether they have limits on withdrawals. Let's put it this way: they don't for me, but I doubt I've ever tried to withdraw more than, I'm totally guessing here, but let's say, 5 BTC in a 24 hour period. So if you're talking about a really large amount of BTC, I can't say for sure, but my guess is there must be some level of transaction where they'd at least want to know your name. But that's just a guess.

Great advice tell people to move all there money to exchanges right now when they don't have too. Unless they are trading whats the point of taking on that extra risk when they don't have too? GL, I used to have this kind of trust in these exchanges until BTC-E happened now anything can happen at anytime. Why not just tell people to not be lazy and just put it in a wallet to be sure? since you guys seem to care so much about what everyone needs to do around here....

You're being a bit too careful worrying about a big exchange being taken down right now, but I agree a wallet you control yourself is the best option for security.

I think these guys who are into investing/trading and want to hold decent amounts during the event are mostly talking about using an exchange to make collecting any new alt tokens a simpler matter... as despite all the posts and info on the web, I don't think many (any?) people really know exactly how they would do it from a desktop/paper style wallet right now.

Im being to careful? How so? because they are giving out information to people to skip a step and give money to others to hold for them when its not needed, how about they just go the extra step and keep the cash in there possession in there own wallet.
After using BTC-e like I was and being able to dodge a big blow you would be here saying the same thing. Everyone trusted that place who used it for years and now look I can only imagine what some of those people feel, I would have felt like crap for a while if I didn't recently slow down using that place and get caught up in that mess.

Oh and with dealing with any kind of bitcoin transaction you need to be extra careful all the time because you can get screwed at any time for a simple mistake. I read here some guy sent money to a book but then they tried to say the address didn't come up, well if you would have taken the time to be careful and screenshot everything about the transaction then you wouldn't have to even be in that situation. All I know is you need to guard yourself as much as you can with this stuff.

He hacked Mt. Gox and used BTC-e to launder money.
A Russian man suspected of being the anonymous mastermind behind one of the world's oldest crypto-currency exchanges and of laundering at least $4 billion has been arrested in Greece, police and sources said on Wednesday.

Police sources identified him as Alexander Vinnik, 38, who was arrested after a tip-off in a small beachside village in northern Greece on a U.S. warrant. Police said the United States would seek to extradite him.

Two sources close to the BTC-e virtual currency exchange, who declined to be named while commenting on an ongoing case, said Vinnik was a key person behind the platform, which has been offline since reporting "technical problems" late on Tuesday.

Screenshot of BTC-e website Wednesday afternoon ET

    Source: CNBC screenshot.

"An internationally sought 'mastermind' of a crime organization has been arrested" Greek police said in a statement. "Since 2011 the 38-year-old has been running a criminal organization which administers one of the most important websites of electronic crime in the world."

Police said "at least" $4 billion in cash had been laundered through a bitcoin platform since 2011 — the year BTC-e was founded — with 7 million bitcoins deposited, and 5.5 million bitcoins in withdrawals.

Bitcoin was the first digital currency to successfully use cryptography to keep transactions secure and hidden, making conventional financial regulation difficult if not impossible.

Vennik's arrest is the latest in a series of U.S. operations against Russian cyber criminals in Europe. Last week, the U.S. Justice Department moved to shut down the dark web marketplace AlphaBay.

The U.S. prosecutions come as scrutiny of Russian hackers intensifies, after U.S. intelligence officials accused Moscow of hacking last year's U.S. presidential election to bolster Donald Trump's chances, something Russia denies.

There was no indication Vennik's case was connected to the U.S. hacking charges. The U.S. Justice Department, the Russian Foreign Ministry and BTC-e did not immediately respond to
    requests for comment.

Founded in 2011, BTC-e is one of the oldest and most obscure virtual currency exchanges, allowing users to trade bitcoin anonymously against fiat currencies, such as the U.S. dollar, and other virtual currencies. Until today, the people behind it had remained anonymous.

It is known in crypto-currency markets as one with the most relaxed standards for checking the identity of its users, to combat money laundering, and for not collaborating with law enforcement.

This helped make it "a favorite money-laundering location" and the exchange has been connected to recent ransomware attacks, said James Smith, chief executive of Elliptic, a

company that works with law enforcement to track illicit bitcoin transactions.

Anyone can chime in and answer this....

I have funds at Gemini right now... just in an acct. No Bitcoins purchased yet. I'm trying to figure this out... so correct me if I'm wrong... I just want to move BTC to a sportsbook after this FORK is over. Will Gemini offer me BTC only? Or BTC and BCC combined?

Furthermore, sportsbooks only want BTC at the moment correct?

    This is really confusing.

I could be wrong looking at posts from MPS, but I don't think that gemini supports BCC.

Kraken, Bitfinex and Bittrex will give you both coins, then you can transfer BTC to sportsbooks.

Sportsbooks aren't taking BCC. Betcoin does accept ETH and LTC.

Let's assume the fork occurs and the new coin has some ongoing value. Then an exchange like Coinbase/GDAX will almost certainly have to give their customers with BTCs in their custody the new coin or an equal value. If not, class action lawsuit.

Are there any BTC exchanges that accept New Yorkers that will be awarding both? It sounds like Gemini will "try" but they are not being definitive about it. Coinbase is only other NY option I know of and they are not awarding both.

Any ideas? Can I just keep them in blockchain wallet.. will that work? I'm researching what I can, but I'm not finding a clear answer. If somebody knows and can give clear instructions of an easy way I'll send you over some betpoints. I don't want to download the entire bitcoin core to my computer. Thanks.

I'm not 100% sure with the blockchain wallet. I am not aware of them saying anything definitive. You can export your seed phrase there and apparently that can be used to import your wallet somewhere else that does support BCC later if needed. I think we will be fine there but am not 100% sure.

Does Kraken accept New Yorkers? They announced they will support both.

You can download the Airbitz wallet for IOS or the Mycelium wallet for Android and send your coins there if you want to be really sure you have full control.

If you want to go as simple as possible, you can create a paper wallet using this site bitcoinpaperwallet.com, send your coins there and just import it to whatever wallet turns out to be the best later.

Yobit.Net @YobitExchangeBitcoin Cash [BCC] trade is open: https://yobit.net/en/trade/BCC/BTC …BCC added to users balances. BTC deps/wds are disabled now.

so it seems at least one exchange has already added the 1:1 BCC coinns on the way formally in 16 hours or so to accounts?

    anone know this exchange?

    and tons of selling
