    Good sportsbooks for baseball?
I know this question is about to pound the SBR forums to death over the next couple months - I figure I'd just get it out of the way now...

Would I be correct in assuming all I (a US citizen) need is BetJamaica and 5 Dimes?

If you want ml, rl and totals you would get the very best odds with Matchbook. If you want props and more options maybe go for TheGreek or 5Dimes. With 5Dimes you have the option of going for reduced juice, which should help you profit.

Matchbook is a must if you want to get the very best odds. The downside is that you may need to place your bet some time after noon at the earliest to get the best odds and enough liquidity. If you want good lines early in the day then go with 5dimes.

Thank you, does matchboook take US customers? Is it only Pinnacle that doesn't?

Just before I post up, I see .20 cent lines at Bet Phoenix and Wager Street for baseball instead of the .10 cent lines being advertised on SBROdds.

If you are doing your own capping, the two must have outs are 1) 5Dimes for overnights and game day props and 2) Matchbook for game day ML/RL/Totals. Pinnacle is good too if you can play there.

Matchbook hands down. I look at Pinnacle overnight lines and then make offers that are better lines than Pinnacle at Matchbook. They are routinely accepted. Sometimes I'll have sides that are 30 cents better than the closing line. Occasionally I'll be on the short end but come October I show a handsome profit.

Good luck. If you don't have Matchbook for the start of baseball season, you're pissing in the wind.

                      You don't need 5Dimes.
Betjamaica & Matchbook will be enough

These are TOP 2 for a US bettor.

Matchbook is better than BJ but sometimes you can catch good lines at BJ as well.

90% of my baseball bets went through MB last year. Hopefully they have decent liquidity again this year.

Hey Hedgehog - I was looking at some of last season's baseball lines at matchbook...how is it that the money line moves in on both sides?

                              For example:

                              NYM @ CIN - Open Nym -155/CIN +141 Close Nym -146/CIN +145

Don't get me wrong - this looks very advantagous to the bettor, but how can they afford to have a 1 cent line on a game?

It's an exchange so they make money on commissions. Basically one person offers CIN +145, another person takes it, and Matchbook takes a 1% fee from the person who took the offer. The person who made the offer gets 0.2% of that and Matchbook keeps the other 0.8%.

I'll chip in my two cents here:

Matchbook is a must have for baseball. If you doubt this then all you need to do is compare prices and you will find the best price available on both sides of almost every game at this book. To not place your MLB bets here is to throw away money.

5Dimes is an excellent book as well for MLB. They have 5 cent overnight lines and their props and other types of 5-inning and other bets will complement your Matchbook out very nicely. If you have a 5dimes and Matchbook you (as a recreational gambler) pretty much have everything you need.

If you want to add a third book, Bet Jamaica is an excellent choice. They offer a dime line (up to -190 I believe, I don't remember off the top of my head, but it's listed on their site) and their have arguably the best customer service and a fantastic player loyalty program (check out the paradise loyalty club program, which is great).

I played there towards the end of the season and I enjoyed their dog ml's. They had slightly less juice, but maybe only like a couple of cents, in certain odds ranges. I guess it all adds up though! Their dimeline goes up to something like +180, so higher than a lot of recreational bookies out there.

If you plan on using them a lot then I would get started asap. Your initial limits will be something like 50% of your first deposit up to max $250 for the first 30 days, after that you can request higher limits (no guarantees though).. It was something along those lines when I set up my account there last year at least. So worth getting in there and playing so you can request better limits while it is still early in the season.

I am gonna use them for betting on dogs throughout the season. Say what you will, I know Matchbook is the best for baseball odds and all that, but they don't give you a rebate if you go cold.

I never used them for anything else so can't say how good they are for other stuff. But they did pay me within the hour (ish, from memory) the two times I requested a payout there.
