Well whatever you do, don't expose your "friend" Could get him fired and would be a backstabbing thing to do to someone looking out for you. IMO

A bad line is a bad line whether the bet was placed online, by phone or, as in this case in person at a betting shop.
The only case you might have, is for them to pay out at 4/6.

well at some point a bad line becomes a good line. for example, when the customer explicitly asks a manager whether the price is good, and the manager confirms this explicitly, the customer should be able to count on that bet to stand. it's a bit unclear what happened here, but imo a company cannot first tell its customer the line is good and then still void when they finally made up their mind.

The "Manager" in this case is the man in charge of a local WillHill shop, of which there are thousands. All that was done is that the manager checked that the odds written by the customer on the betting slip matched those on the screen.

To my mind it is still no different to placing the bet online.

Admittedly, the odds differential here 19/2 (+1050) against 4/6 (-150) is such that you might expect the local manager to spot it.

Understood but this is something that happens very often. A bookie makes a mistake when posting odds and then voids the bet. All bookies have rules covering themselves in this event and they will never pay out at the higher odds.

Knowingly betting on these "bad lines" doesn´t pay, your friend should have known this.

Ultimately it depends on William Hill´s rules which are on display in the shop where you placed the bet (I don´t know them offhand).

what surprises me most in this thread though there's a staff member at will hill tipping all his friends when one of his collegues screws up. and apparently that same staff member didn't know his company doesn't pay out on odds which are so clearly in the wrong.

must be one incompetent employee they have there.
