You'd think Bitpay would be aware of the codings used and other bitcoin exchangers in their own market.

Metropolitan Commercial Bank handles it all so I doubt it matters if Bitpay realizes what codings are being used by bitcoin exchanges.

Nobody else had their funds frozen before? I don’t even know what to email them. They want documents explaining why I did cash advance even when i didn’t? They consider buying bitcoin on Coinbase as cash advance?

I don't know what's going on either? But apparently they are changing protocol over Bitpay? I had 2 large Bitcoin transactions using the card at Coinbase probably... 2 years ago. It was excessive.... but my acct was never frozen... and I never received any calls.

At that particular time... I was just charged an additional foreign trans fee... which is common.

Bitpay went from the savior to total dumpster fire. My card just expired July 31st, they never sent me a new card, or even contacted me to advise anything. I just let it expire and good riddance

I was able to send $ to friend via PayPal with my BP card, but I had to pay around a 3% fee. Is that normal?

I did the same. There was a 3.2% fee.

I know there is a lot of good info in the thread but I was using the Bitpay card religiously at my local ATM up until Spring. Honestly it was the easiest payouts I had since the Neteller days.

Anyway there was one particular book that was really pushing Bitcoin/Bitpay and am guessing many of us found our way there via this same book.

Anyway what's everyone doing now in terms of payouts? I am considering getting a cashiers check for the first time in ages. I am not a huge fan of BTC price volatility and like to convert into USD as soon as possible. Is there any easy way to take BTC in my wallet any convert into USD? Or is the old school FedEx delivery the best bet?

Emailed them screenshots of my Coinbase transaction hoping that’s enough to unfreeze my funds on account. Even though I have been doing the same activity for years never a problem until now. Think this will be the end for bitpay for me.

I send it to my coinbase wallet, then convert it instantly to USD. Then w/d to my checking account. As long as you do it quickly you will experience little fluctuations

There is a quicker way. Send it to paypal from coinbase which has no fee and it's instant. Paypal does instant debit card transfers which are linked to your bank account for a 1 percent fee.

So all my transactions were being declined saying incorrect card details...called them up and said card was cancelled due to a metchant used that their security was breached....but never sent me any notifications or anything. So now gotta wait a week for a card while the funds are frozen. 🤦*♂️🤦*♂️

why would you mix bitpay and coinbase? There are no international fee checking account cards out there, or any fees for that matter. Possible to get free incoming wires. Long live bitpay

MCO card appears to be almost the same as the BitPay card but has upgrade options to earn cashback in the MCO crypto currency.

Sounds like we only need the basic plastic version and dont need to worry about the metal cards and MCO part to me.

The bitpay card is a prepaid debit card. And the answer is no all prepaid debit cards have to be purchased with cash.

I was thinking purchasing a prepaid debit with the Bitpay would just be another means of getting the cash from the Bitpay card as opposed to *********** or sending to PayPal.

Yeah it is. I have never seen a prepaid card that can be purchased with something other than cash. Please let me know if there is.

You can try it but I guarantee you it won't work. If it does work let me know. Every time I've bought a prepaid card they told me cash only.

I do plan to try, but like a MO I assumed it was similar ie. cash or debit. Some time ago (nothing to do with Bitpay) I bought a Walmart prepaid card (not gift card) and best I remember I could only load it via debit or in store cash.

Some exciting news from this first time poster that has been following this thread since March.

My card expires this month so I called bitpay yesterday from the number on the back of the card. I asked if they would automatically send me a new card. The guy replied that it was already sent last week. Cool! Then I asked if the ATM service would ever be back and he replied that it would. Tomorrow. I just got back from the store after giving it a 'test' withdrawal. I took a '$40 fast cash from primary checking' and BOOM! Success! This card is back in action!
