Another book bites the dust: BetUS closes shop to new U.S. players

Should we be upset and raise our alert level, or do we celebrate that no new U.S. player will have to put up with such a terrible book ever again?

    From Pregame.com:

It has been reported to Pregame.com via our offshore contacts that sportsbook BetUs will no longer be accepting new accounts from the United States. Our sources at BetUS state that current accounts will remain active and can deposit and withdraw as usual. This choice is not based on any direct issues with the U.S. Department of Justice, but rather a business decision to lower the company's profile and focus on their current customer base.

Big Loss. Definitely doing US a favor. The rest of the story is that they're taking US clients' $$$ with them when they close.

All there doing is not allowing new US clients... not really that big of a deal IMO.

Hell, VIP did that 5 years ago and there still up and running with no problem at all.

I put a call in to BetUS. Not surprisingly, they said they knew nothing about it.

Doubly ironic if their name was" PayUS".

    BetUS is America's Sportsbook!

hey whatever you think of BetUs, good or bad, nothing about this news is good for the player, even if you have your accounts already set up. It's no big deal when looking at it from a "micro" perspective, but it is a big deal from a "macro" perspective.

BetUS has most of their customers from the US. Now that is a big loss to them, should they still be called BetUS or BetNoUS/NoBetUS.

This was in response to a tweet asking about the Pregame report:

Whether anyone cares about BetUS is one thing. But it seems that books are finding increasingly difficult to do business in the US. And that is not good.

They have a really good casino bonus plenty of +EV and I got paid.. so kinda think this sucks. I wouldn't recommend messing around with their sportsbook bonuses, you win you get limited. But hit the casino and then give them some action in the sportsbook and they paid.

I am amazed at how dense the majority of posters here are... regardless of what you think of BetUS if true this is bad news for the industry. I know some tard will jump in with a comment like with... who needs them with the greek and 5dimes. Betus is the largest facing us sportsbook next to sportsbook.com and if the two biggest are leaving the market possibly it foreshadows bad things to come.

What business would not want to expand for business reasons? It seems like they are concerned about something.

All these moves are good for current players. Now they won't waste money on advertising that will raise their profile with authorities. Flying under the radar is better.

Again... we're talking BetUs here. The day US players have to worry is the day TheGreek or 5Dimes wants to pull out of the US market. Thats the day we as players will bail ship.

Does Jesse Ventura still endorse BetUS. With all the problem they had how can Jesse Ventura support them with many delays to people's money.

I have been waiting on a payout from BetUS since 4/14. I provided them with bank statements after ten business days and they began a "trace" with their processor on 5/2. Sounds like a stall tactic. Customer service (Gus, Mike, etc.) said the trace can take anywhere between 7 and 30 more days! Has anyone received a payment from them recently? The amount of my request was in the low 4-figures. It is my final balance.

    Thanks!
    Sam

Has anyone confirmed this? I asked BetUS, and the manager I spoke with couldn't confirm it. I spoke to pregame, and they didn't have a source that would go on the record.
