Play #38: [Europa League] Red Bull Salzburg vs. Standard Liege OVER 2.5 (-118) The 1st leg was a goal fest with 5 coming home. A whopping 33 shots on goal were recorded in that one. Salzburg coughed up the lead, losing 3-2 so they must head into this looking for goals. Salzburg showed good form at home over the weekend with an easy 3-0 win over LASK Linz in Austria Bundesliga play. At home dating back to late 2009, they have tallied multiple goals in 3 of their last 5. In Europa League play in the fall, they scored two goals in two of their three matches at home. Liege heads into this one having allowed four goals in their last two competitive matches. Away from home, their defense has been iffy with the Belgian side yielding multiple goals in 6 of their last 8 on the road. Salzburg needs to win by one goal here to progress as they tallied those two important away goals in the 1st leg. Since restarting Bundesliga play from the winter break, they have scored 7 goals in three matches (including EL). Expecting Salzburg to leave no doubt that they will advance today, but Liege also knows they have to score here most likely to keep their chances alive. If the offenses keep anywhere close to the pace of the first match with almost three dozen shots on goal, I expect that three goals will happen here.

Was due a loss pretty soon. Looks like today is that day.
Oh well. Most of the ones I capped and decided between today would have lost. Think it was inevitable coming off the late win yesterday. Upward and onward.

Yeah Europa League picks especially are NEVER easy. I would always suggest lightening the load for these matches. Champions League matches are usually a bit closer to what is expected, but the EL is always a surprise.

Didn't really have a lot of time to look for today. My company is moving offices today, so been occupied with that so far. I took the over in the Turkey Super League game at the last minute, but had no time to write anything or even post until now. It was 2.5 at +102, seemed worthwhile. Not sure if I will play it, but the German Bundesliga match offers some value on the over too at quick glance. I think the split 2/2.5 line at -110 would be the way to go. Dortmund hasn't been shut out since the break and they have conceded 9 in their last 3 on the road. Schalke scores two a lot at home. Worst case could be two goals and a half stakes loss there.

There is a great article on ESPN soccernet about the importance of the game to Dortmund. It basically says they are going for the win, so that means they will be attacking, and vulnerable to a counter. I could see upwards of 4 goals in this match, but it could go either way. BOL on whatever you play.

Turkey match looks good. 2 goals in 20 minutes. If that cashes, I will be on the OVER 2/2.5 in Germany and probably take it at the SBR book for 2.5. I want to break them.

Play #40: [Austria Bundeliga] LASK Linz vs. Strum Graz OVER 2.5 (-141) Lay the chalk here. Don't over-react to LINZ getting shutting out on the road last time out. This team at home is a goal magnet. Their home matches have averaged almost 5 goals per match. In their one match at home after the break, LINZ hit for four goals against Rapid Wien and yielded two. In 10 home matches this season, nine have easily hit 3 goals or better. They've played Strum Graz twice with both matches hitting for more than four goals. Strum Graz has tallied 7 goals in two matches since the break, conceding zero. Away from home though, they have yielded goals in four of their last five. In three of those, multiple tallies from the home team. LINZ' leaky defense is likely to be pentrated for multiple goals and I see them unlikely to get shut down at home. Three goals seems fairly likely here. You can also find the split 2/5/3 at lower chalk if that's your game.

Play #41: [German Bundesliga] Hannover vs. Wolfsburg OVER 3 (-119) Hannover has had major issues stopping their opponents with 14 goals allowed in their last four overall in Bundesliga. At home, they have allowed three or more in four straight and have allowed at least two goals in 7 of their last 9 on home soil. Wolfsburg has had a remarkable run of 13 straight in Bundesliga where they have scored and conceded at least one goal. In that stretch, all but one match have hit at least three goals. 8 of Wolfsburg's 11 away matches have hit for at least three goals. Overall, Wolfsburg totals have hit for at least three goals in 13 of their last 15 in Bundesliga. These are the two worst defenses in the league, both allowing 45 goals thus far. This one seems solid that both will score and given the defensive deficiencies here for both clubs along with Wolfsburg solid offense - three should be the worst case scenario here with four a very realistic shot.
