Play #25: [Spain La Liga] Atletico Madrid vs. Barcelona OVER 3 (-125) Atletico has been schizophrenic to say the least in La Liga this season. In their last 5, they have scored 3 or more twice, been shut out twice and played a 1-1 draw. At home, they have been pretty solid offensively. They have scored in all but one of their 10 home matches. That was their last one, a 2-0 loss to Malaga. They have conceded a goal in 9 0f 10 and multiple goals in 5, including 3 of the last 4. Barcelona's lead atop La Liga is now just two points after Real Madrid's win on Saturday. Barca has been in stellar scoring form since the restart in 2010 with multiple goals in 4 of 6, including 4 of the last 5. Barca had a poor performance in their last roadie with just one goal in a 1-0 win over Gijon. Prior to that, they had tallied 13 goals in their last 4 away from home. This series has been chock full of goals over the years, be it in La Liga or Copa Del Rey play with 10 of the last 11 seeing at least 3 goals. Barca crushed Atletico 5-2 at home in September, blitzing the visitors with 4 1st half goals. Barca comes into this one knowing their league lead could be back up to 5 points with a win as Real Madrid continues to put the pressure on them. Expect Messi and company to go hard in this one, but I think the home side will also find some scoring. Push should be the worst, but I think we could see 4 goals or better.

Barca back line is decimated. They will have to tap into the reserves. when these two get together they like to play an open game. this has goalfest written all over it.

Was hoping they'd sneak a 4th in before the half so I can quit paying attention. Messi will get it done if nothing else me thinks although I think Atletico Madrid might hit another too. In any case, hopefully we get off the push here.

You gotta be shitting me that this is gonna end up a push.
Helluva piece of crap 2nd half without a goal after 3 in the 1st, but I guess it coulda been worse. 2 pushes this weekend and a half stakes win.

Play #26: [Cyprus Division 1] APEP vs APOEL Nicosia OVER 2.5/3 (-107) APEP has just one clean sheet in 9 home matches this season and have netted multiple goals in 5 of those 9. They have been hit or miss in 2010 so far with 8 goals in 5 matches. Those 8 came in 3 matches. APOEL has been a steady scoring outfit all season on the road with goals in all nine road matches. APOEL has multiple goal matches in 6 of those 9. They have given up at least one goal in the same amount. APOEL has 12 goals in 5 matches since retuning from the break. That includes a season best 5 in their last match, a 5-0 win at home over Aris. APOEL is tied for the most goals in Cyprus' top league with 40, while APEP has conceded the 3rd most at 35. APOEL had no problems winning when they met in November at 3-1. At home, I would go with the handicap for APOEL at -1.5, but on the road I think it could be closer as in 2-1 or somewhere along those lines. So the OVER is what I like best.

I really felt for you on the Atl Madrid/Barca game. After 3 "quick" goals, the 4th never came. An unfortunate push that was.

Cripes. 10 minutes to go + injury time, still 2-1. Wish the line hadn't bugged out so quick when I was doing my write-up, coulda had the 2.5 straight.

I think I am gonna follow JohnAnthony on the over in the Turkey Super League match. Looks ripe. Over 2.5 at -113 or 2/2.5 at -144. Probably lay less chalk and hope for 3.

Many people now on this, wow. Almost a goal after 6 minutes..I hope we get at least 1 or two before action dries the teams are on fire.

EP are you watching the Turkish jokes? 4 big misses so far..I can barely believe it.

Yeah JA, unlucky in Turkey. Probably became a jinx when more people got on board. Looked like you had it capped well, but you can't account for stupid finishing skills on a given day.

EP I am sorry for your loss, mine is nothing smaller. You know EP, you should just at least watch the summary - I think it will be like 15 minutes alone because of the SO many missed chances.
But you know what they say - a loser is a loser.

Play #27: [Champions League] A.C. Milan vs. Manchester United OVER 2 (-114) [2 UNIT PLAY] Ante up for this one as I see a push on the total of 2 as the worst case possible scenario here. Milan simply is not the brick wall it has been in the past on defense and the books don't seem to have adjusted to that. In their 6 Champions League clashes in the group stages, Milan had just one match that finished under 2 goals. Those are all an eternity ago. Since Milan's last CL match on December 8th, the arrival of David Beckham has occurred and with it has come 15 goals in 6 home matches. The Milan defense remains questionable as they have conceded at least one goal in 7 of the last 10 since their last Champions League tilt. Manchester United remains arguably the hottest unit in soccer. Their Champions League tilts already found the English club in superb scoring form as they hit for 10 goals in their 5 group stage matches, while conceding in 3 of 5. United has 20 goals in their last 7 overall and have scored in 8 of 9 overall matches in 2010. This one seems very likely to see both squads score and plenty of opportunity in attack that one or the other adds to that tally and gets 3 or more goals. Milan's front line is always looking to attack and their back line has been shaky. With Rooney and company headed to Milan, they will be tested heavily. Milan has to be weary of giving up too many away goals to United, but has to know that they likely have to score multiple goals to outduel a hot United squad on Tuesday. A draw leaves them needing what would be a difficult win in the 2nd leg on the road. Going for two units here as I cannot see less than two goals and will gladly take the hit if Milan or United adopts a defensive tactic for this one.

My final decision was to go with the over also, I think we will be unlucky if this game stays under 2.
United know they can seal the deal at Old Trafford so they'll probably be looking for as many away goals as possible, this should at the same time open up Milan to try and get some goals of their own. IMO this 1st leg is all about getting ready for the 2nd. Let's hope Ferguson's experience in this matchup + their away form hold up.
