While I disagree that people are born gay, that's for another thread. I realize a piece of paper means nothing to you. It never will until you actually have one.
It isn't going over my head. It is clear as day. You're telling me you don't want to see two homos smooching at the bar. Let me ask you this. How often do you see two heteros smooching at the bar? Very rare. Also, because the homos can now be "married", how is this going to change the amount of homos in the US? Homos are already homos. They don't see that they can now be married to each other and decide they are a homo. I didn't think you're were this shallow minded. The teacher doesn't teach your kid to be a homo either, Opie. Your kid is either a homo or their not. That is your job in the home to teach the values in which you want your kid to possess.

Sammy Odom is very liberal minded... Yes he is when it comes to personal Liberties

But what happened yesterday (large MFing crowds supporting Chick-Fil-A across the country) have the liberals in a spin mode. They are shocked

          Are you seriously this glib?

It's about the definition of marriage.

While I'd rather not see homos kissing at a bar, that's not what this is about.

It's not about the teacher teaching my kid to be a homo. It's about changing the curriculum. It's about someone telling kids that it's perfectly normal and fine for the same sex to be married like their mommy & daddy are. Because in my opinion, it's not.

I know my views aren't popular here. This is a hugely liberal board. But my feelings have nothing to do with not wanting others to be happy. I hope we all can be.

Let me make a comparison, son. If it was acceptable to shit in the streets in the USA and it was taught that it was standard to shit in the street in the USA, I would tell me kid he isn't shitting in the street. You shit in a toilet, kid. I assure you, the kid wouldn't shit in the street because his old man taught him right and wrong. It starts in the home. If you're worried about society corrupting your kid into being a homo, your kid will likely be a homo if they are a homo. They have that choice to be a closet homo, get married, have some kids, divorce, and be a homo. That is the alternative. Or society can accept they are a homo and live happily ever after.

88.......although we disagree on the "born gay" subject, I'm with you in regards to keeping gayness out of our school curriculum. I think what Deucer is trying to say is........it doesn't matter if homo is discussed in school or not because either one is born with a taste for rooster or they're not.

                    Exactly

Marriage, religion, etc. already is not taught in school. I've been to school, we all have I'd hope, they don't teach about marriage.

i don't have a problem with what he said Einstein. When you own a business you don't go out an alienate your customer base. People who own this fellas franchise will now lose customers because he can't keep his opinions to himself. Do you understand now? Yes they had a great first day after this fella alienated a nice chunk of customers. Do you think in the long run he will gain more than he lost? In business you don't take these chances. Respect your customers views and if you don't like them keep them to yourself. You have people under you who bought your franchise because you did a good job up until now.

Thor....you would never make it in the business world, pal.

I actually have no doubt that Chic Fil-A's business will improve from this situation. Unlike yourself, most Americans respect companies that aren't afraid to stand for something. Do you realize how many simpletons like yourself said the same thing about CFA decision to be closed on Sunday? How'd that turn out?

Libtards & homosexuals need to realize that the vast majority of the USA doesn't share their views. Most people still have a moral compass, and appreciate others that aren't afraid to have the backbone and character to stand up for what they believe in.

I'm sad there is no chick fil a in the bay area. The choice of sauces is amazing. I don't think the anti-gay marriage comments are gonna hurt them but i do agree it wasn't smart business practice. A company that puts its beliefs over the dollar is kinda a rare thing nowadays.

Dopie, i already made it in the business world. People should voice their opinion but if you think this is good for business u are just as backwards as the guy who is the COO of Chick Fila. Yes, this goes over well with uneducated backwards hicks but in states were education isn't at the bottom, this is a big waste of time. I can't imagine people who own this franchise, in states that have IQ's higher then 50, appreciate what the guy at the top has said. Now Dopie in Texas this is just fine cowboy lingo. Just like pollution where u pretty much rule the other 49 states. There is nobody's on this planet that gets more shit then me on these post boards for voicing an opinion but i was bright enuf to keep my mouth shut when i depended on a customer base that featured everyone's opinion. Ridiculous to think what this guy said is good for business and i would say the same thing if he said he couldn't care less if gay people got married. You just don't go there.

Not neccesarily agreeing with any side here about long term whether this will be a + or - financially but I will tell you that I live in the 3rd wealthiest county in the country with the highest education level. It is by and large liberal, yet the lines have been just as ridiculous as in the deep southern conservative states. Yesterday the drive through took 30 minutes. It is not a matter of education it is a matter of beliefs and principal. For gays to be outraged by this mans comments is hypocrisy at its finest. Why should the President of a company not have a right to voice his beliefs and opinion as a citizen yet homosexuals get to march the streets and live and speak their way of life as citizens? What the guy said was his right as an AMERICAN just as homosexuals having the right to be openly gay is AMERICAN. The whole key here is the word Marriage is not an AMERICAN term it is a religious term, the fact that homosexuals demand access to a term religious people hold dear is a disgrace and honestly meant for no other reason than to rile up and honestly infringe on the rights of the religious. You can't redefine a word that is based on religion in a country because the definition and meaning transcends the powers of a government. It is a pact under God between a man and a women. That is all there is to it. They have been offered the same right under a different word and that is not enough for them so forget it.

People need to stop seeing "marriage" as a religious right and not a legal one. Religion has zero jurisdiction in American law nor should it ever. Marriage and the rights that go with it and determined by state law, not catholicism or christianity. If gay people want to get married, so what? Let them. It's their constitutional right. All men created equal, not all straight men. This is an age old argument and it's the right one. People saying gays can't married makes about just as much sense as saying the Chinese couldn't own land in 1930's. Why couldn't they own land? Because the government said so, with no logical reasoning at all.

People need to come off that sh!t and realize that if people are gay they're just the same as anyone else, they just prefer the same sex. All these macho tough guys saying that men should be men and queers are subhuman, check out our military, there's scores of guys gay as picnic baskets in there who could beat the fuk out you, and on top of it they're still soldiers who do their duty just as good as the next. I'm not gay but I have family members who are, and honestly I see no difference between someone calling a gay guy "f\*g" and dropping the n bomb on a black person. It's simple bigotry and hatred and people need to be understanding of differences to their own beliefs. If you don't like gay people, fine, but you can't tell them what rights they can and can't have. That's complete "inequality".

While I disagree that people are born gay, that's for another thread. I realize a piece of paper means nothing to you. It never will until you actually have one.
Opie, just curious, I assume you're speaking about a marriage license as a "piece of paper". Do you also realize that "piece of paper" means nothing to 41% of all Americans who get married? Maybe you should champion for making divorce illegal before barring gays from marriage. Why not let gays get married, straight people have already destroyed any sanctity the commitment of marriage held anyway.

641,000 people said on mike huckabees facebook page that they were gonna counterprotest nationwide, turns out only 13,500 showed up. One rally set in california that was expecting 500 people only got 30.

Cope were called at numerous locations for the counter protest as well and despite there being hundreds of thousands more at the wednesday gatherings the cops werent called at all anywhere that day, just goes show you that conservatives behave and liberals dont.

Dude you are always gonna find a collection of clowns anywhere you go. The clowns i am talking about are the guns, god, gays and abortion clowns. The ones the politicians play over and over again. The ones that say "keep the gov't out of my healthcare and don't touch my medicare" These deep thinkers. U say the drive thru took 30 minutes but in Texas they are prolly still standing out there and might be till Christmas. To waste one's time worrying about what other people are doing with their lives is comical.

Most of these phony fukin conservative reap the benefits people stood up and fought for but are to ignorant to even know it. They actually believe they earned them on their own. Im amazed that these people who are supporting this fellow are all great citizens but the OCWstreet crowds are broke unemployed people. This is how utterly stupid this country is. You have Wall Street who created this economic mess and people trying to stand up to them getting slammed, yet these assholes feel a need to support a fast food giant because they like his MSg laden chicken, and they are a bigot just like the guy they are supporting. It would be hilarious if it wasn't so sad.

My post was referring to why does Christianity choose Sunday as their Sabbath? Sunday was the pagan day of worship, amongst many religions, including the Roman religion and Mithraism. Early Christians did not want to be persecuted by the Roman goverment (as they did with the Jews), so Christians began taking on many pagan traditions as their own. Mass on Sunday, Christmas, etc.
I believe you are right Christians started changing holidays to the same days as pagan traditions (Christmas, Easter,...). But this change happened when the Emperor Constantine was in power, who converted to Christianity (I think he had a huge hand in these decisions).

This isn't true at all. You need to check the law before commenting on this. Civil unions are not even close to the same thing as marriage. Read the fine print concerning legality, federal tax laws, benefits, etc... If the term marriage is a religious word, it has no place in American law, yet the law uses the word, thereby dissolving it's religious meaning when applied to the American legal system as this country is a "Democracy" free of religious influence. If anything, catholics/christians should be up in arms about the use of "their word" by the American government. Saying unions are the same as marriages is like saying you believed in "separate, but equal"...
