Not shocking or disturbing at all.. This was standard just a generation ago when America was actually a hard-working, efficient, and prosperous country that was envied by all.. Now it's a joke because no one punishes their children.. The only problem I had with this was when he grabbed her throat, but whatever, probably by accident as he was just trying to keep her on the bed... A belt is standard.. Probably would have only been a couple spanks but she resisted and didn't accept her punishment.. If I disobeyed my parents, I'd be fine to take what I deserve.. It just seemed worse because she's a girl and she'd cry her eyes out if she got pinched.. I don't plan on beating my kids or any similar physical punishment but I have nothing people who do.. Standard classical conditioning. People who overreact to this video are pathetic and probably have kids who don't respect them or have no discipline themselves.

I saw this some days ago. I'm not sure, but I think the reason the girl posted this now is because her dad is taking back her car (again, not sure but I read it somewhere). The fact that she blackmailed her father and posted this video to his ruin doesn't speak much about his discipline methods.
Bringing up a child is hard work to be sure, but discipline needs to be balanced with love. From what I saw, that wasn't discipline at all. That's way overboard for the offense. It almost seemed like he was whacking her for the enjoyment. He could've gotten his point across by talking to her. She was 16 at that time, and would understand reasonable words. Way, way overboard.
