#73You wake up every morning, get dressed up, drive to work.
You get out of your car, and as you slam the door shut you realize this is your 100342th day at work doing the same thing over and over. Each step towards the building makes you sick to your stomach. You're in the elevator dreading the moment it reaches your floor.
Then you get out, and have to put the stupid fake smile on your face and say hello to everyone on your way to your cubicle or work station. You boot up your computer and your email is already full of
"Can you do this for me before noon? Thanks."
"Please be advised that today is <insert stupid fake day like 'AIDS awareness day'>, and so at 2pm everyone must come down to the lobby for a quick info session followed by tea and stale cookies"
"Hi, I glanced over that report you submitted. Even though I didn't read much, I think you should re-do it. Thanks, management."
You count the minutes until it is quitting time only to go home and get a bunch of bills in the mail. You are going nowhere and have no hope unless you hit the jackpot.
That is why you should gamble.
Renting an apartment, driving a shitty car, and never having a guarantee of income is the recipe for two things----prison and an early death.
Owning a home, a vacation home, a few nice cars....and the ability to vacation just about anywhere I want, play golf 3-4 times a week, and gamble when I want is a price I will gladly pay for having to work 40-55 hours a week.
It ain't a bad life.Comment -

#74Lock,
If your 9-5 job is what you love doing then all the power to you. But you know the 9-5 I am talking about, and described in my original post.
For many here, the money they are making gambling far exceeds what they would make working 9-5, and this more than compensates for any health benefits.
How many guys here are making money gambling?
2?
1?
SBR was smart enough to know how many broke degens are living on this board to create their point system.Comment -

#78I would have to live on rice and beans if I gambled for a living. I have had 12k swings (losses) at 100 a unit. To make a living I would have to bump my wagers up to 500.00 unit and I would probably die of a stoke after dropping 60kComment -

How much do you make a year? Seriously. Not in a good year, not in a bad year. An average year. What do you make?
Do you have health insurance? If yes, what do you pay for it?
Will you have a pension in your current line of work? If so, what are the terms?
Do you live with any family members?
Do you rent or own?Comment -

#96gambling for a living is possible. definately. you most likely have to lose a couple grand before it all starts clicking. i thought i knew it all when i started but not til i lost a lot did i really get good and made it back quickly. if you have a goodj ob and you wanna gamble you just have to know when you're good enough to stop working. i don't advise anyone who hasnt been gambling for a couple years to do it though, its tough but if you can crack the code you're good.Comment -
