Neighbor told me he is going to kick my ass

he yelled at my dog for barking and jumping on " my fence" and told me he was going to hit my dog in the head with a shovel
if i didnt get him to stop barking... and my dog litterally had only been outside for 30 seconds and rarely ever barks.

this neighbor seems pyscho..

i usually ignore him but when he threatened my dog i said " fukk you pal"

and he responded fukk you , come outside i'm going to kick your ass

a full 24 hours later...

he came over while i was not home...GF said he beat on the door and when no one answered he broke my flower pots
and various decorations on the front porch.

now i'm not sure what to do ....

i dont think any thing good could result in a fist fight with the neighbor

if his problem is the barking dog, hopefully he will just blast music/construction noises at your house when you are trying to sleep or concentrate, you will get the point, and the two of you will be able to work something out

nah man i never leave my dog outside when i'm not home and i always call him inside anytime he barks.

problem is the neighbor hangs out in his backyard 24/7 and walks around just outside the fence causing my dog to bark b/c he hears him... and the second my dog barks he flips out.

i could even hear this guy using a weed whacker during heavy rain on sunday.

First Call the police now and file a report. NOW!
If nothing else it starts the timeline and they will put his criminal record. If you are nice and talk calm they might share some of it so you know what you are dealing with. If nothing else if you are civil with them they usually will give you some good advice. In Maryland there is a court database on line and you can look up any court case, criminal or civil, by typing in a name. Again, good to know.
In the Judicial system the person who complains first has the edge. If he has made threats and then used a shovel to do damage to your property, it is no longer a empty threat. You can say to someone that you are going to kill them but if you have no apparent way to do so it is not against the law. If you say it and then use a instrument that can kill to damage your property it is now illegal.
Remember a misdemeanor must be seen by the officer for them to make an immediate arrest. If the guy is nuts or just stupid walk out to the car when the police are leaving and I have found these idiots will do something to show the police that you are likely to be telling the truth.
Lastly, don't do anything stupid. You can protect yourself, family, and property but don't start anything physical or verbally.

I love the advice that you get on a forum like this. It is usually kick his ass, shoot him, burn his house down. All of which will put you in jail for quite some time.
This advice is usually given, and I repeat usually, by someone that there is a better chance that their wife or girlfriend is more likely to handle it than them.
Try the proper way first. It usually works. If not then I agree some people just need an ass kicking by you or you and your friends. Hopefully not on his property with no witnesses. Remember an ass kicking gone wrong is murder so be careful.
