I don’t think we see Toronto -5, I think the line is good where it is. It seems like the numbers driven community, and many of those who come to similar conclusions have some alignment with Toronto winning. Non predictive yet often used numbers by amateur regular bettors give Toronto about a 5 point win, or a bit less.

My forecasts have finally given Toronto some credit here with the win, but by only about 2.5 points.

The books may be taking a position here, keeping the sharps out of the spread and slightly below, with the public loving Miami Heat. The market and numbers have produced a population that will take the favorite, but it’s to a lesser degree for sure.

To go with the spread, with no discrepancy, against my line would indicate an underdog spread play and, truthfully, any rise in that line might bring unwanted action. The books are keeping some sharps on the side for this bet.

There’s a bit of a Sicilian conundrum here with that moneyline. So much alignment on the money line will cause some suspicious yet very influential market readers to jump to the underdog; that is to jump to Miami. That +175 moneyline feels a bit too rich for an environment in which public money has not only been aimed at Miami to win, but we see more sophisticated participants shifting there as well.

The safest play here is likely the high priced Toronto moneyline; the winning bet is often one that has to be paid for and in this case trying to outsmart the books could be a disaster.

The problem I have is that I haven’t been posting every game and can’t tell you by example which groups of bettors are on which end of the give and take of the markets. This is one reason why I like posting whole season as a time.

I want to bet the hockey game, and I want to bet St Louis (I have the Blues to come out of the West, the only future I bought for NHL).

This game seems like a bit more of a gamble and the prices make it such. Over the long term, it's a pass, over the short term, while I want to place a bet, I just didn't. Today's been a good day overall for KVB so I'm sitting out.
