here is who I am. I am an American patriot, and hopefully the people who agree with my political thoughts and especially the people who disagree with my politics, they are also American patriots. Now I understand that many on this forum are not American citizens and their allegiance is to their country, and obviously I get that. You love your home country and most of you would fight and die for that flag.
So if you are an American, the bottom line is I don't care about your politics when it comes to defending this country. If we are in a fox hole we are all Americans no matter our politics. Political thought ends when it comes time to defend your country. I believe that very close to 100% of Americans have this same feeling, I still get chills running up and down my spine when I hear any patriotic song being played anywhere--and I wouldn't be surprised if the same feeling happens to you no matter what country you live in. Your political thoughts become irrelevant when you are defending your country, we are then brothers in arms. A "band of brothers" as so aptly taught in the same tremendous war true story. I was so touched by that show that I actually wrote a letter to the commander of that unit living in or around Gettysburg, sadly he is now deceased.
I know almost nothing about an individual in this forum who seems to be constantly defending another foreign country. Last night when he made a negative comment about America and what seemed to be pro Russian I replied how he must have forgotten about Afghanistan. That country, people living in caves, defeated his obviously favorite country and forced them to evacuate. Stone aged people defeated the USSR. In fact, it is one of the factors involved with the collapse of that "powerful" nation.
Hey cheer for whatever country you want but if you are an American I simply find it more than strange that an American would have such strange anti American feelings. It seems he always has negative comments about our country. Maybe he isn't American. I don't know and I don't give a fck. Hey, America is not perfect, we all know this. But, where else would an American rather live. We almost all the time say if this or that happens I am moving to wherever. But, few of us do.
And the irony is modern day Russia might very well be one of the very worst countries to defend. Who doesn't know about the problems facing that country. I need not go into detail most of you are educated enough to know that living there and not being involved somehow with the elite is a life of torment and poverty. You might think the division of wealth in our country is bad, and it is, but it is a paradise compared to Russia. Even our poor are much better off than an average Russian citizen. So what is to brag about? They are worse than a second rate country.
Obviously they cheated in the olympics. Their military can't even get close in comparison to the USA military. Their economy is in a shambles and depends almost solely on oil. They are a bully and use of force is their only asset.
The only plus I can talk about is their people, resilient and patriotic and able to endure the worst of times.
I am a proud American, I cheer for my country no matter who leads it. I will be critical if I find it necessary, but I hope and pray my country succeeds. And I know that comparing my country to any country anywhere, well I know in my heart what country wins. And again, I understand if you live somewhere else that you have these same feelings for your country, and so you should.
