No such thing has learning curve in this situation. I am a Bears fan and Caleb Hanie is very capable in moving the ball with this offense...al you have to do is go back and watch how he performed in the NFC title game against the Packers...he almost brought the Bears back to win that game!!.....take the points and money line the Bears.

Wasn't it Hanie that threw the game losing pick to Fat Bastard on GB in that NFC Championship game. Oakland is better than people think. Yeah they got smoked at home by KC & Denver but Palmer was rusty and Denver whipped out the option on them and got a 90 yard punt return td.

He's actually making a lot of sense here though. Remember what happened to Oakland a few weeks ago vs Kansas City? Oh yeah....they got blown out 28-0. And losing to Denver 38-24?? Something is wrong with Oak at the house. Bears are strong, as long at what's his face can throw and make plays.

And if you recall in the 2 losses mentioned above, the qb's had zero practice with the first team. Hell carson Palmer was out of football for how many months?
The offense is getting stronger every week.
The defense will force at least 2 turnovers

Bears play a variation of the tampa 2 now. Not the same prevent style as in past years. They give up less first downs on thrid down. Oak will have trouble handling the favorite tag. Palmer will be in constant trouble. Bears qb sit means fukk all for this game.

Bears stay in tampa 2 only about 45% of the time. Don't get me wrong, the Raiders can win this game. But I think Hanie will surprise some people, he's actually more skilled than most people think. He's been sittong on the bench studying up for 4 years...he's as ready as just about any back up QB can be ready.

And the defense has already stated that they will have to play better, Urlacher said their mentality is that they have to carry the team. They have 14 takeaways in the past 3 games.

I honestly kind of agree with lakerboy here. I mean the Bears are better at every position and the Raiders cant stop the run for crap. Bears control the clock with Forte/Barber, and Hester gets Hanie and the offense solid field position all game. Bears D shut down the Raiders very banged up offense. I might even throw a unit or two on it. Def teasing up the Bears to +10

Yeesh, the line took a nosedive, in spite of all the anti-Bear players.
I like the Bears ML and still love them at +3. Wish I got in sooner, +6 woulda been hot.
You have to remember. The Bears are still a damn good football team. The offensive line has really come together in recent games, in spite of all the losses. I thought the line was going to kill this team, but I was very wrong. They are playing as well as a unit as anyone in the NFL. In pointing that out, it goes without saying that they have the ABILITY to run the football. This is very important when you have a backup QB in. Hainey has shown some ability in the preseason, but how much? I don't expect him to be asked to throw the ball more than 15 or so times. Also, when a superstar player is out, the team is likely to 'step up' for the first game, then dog it the second game.

Urlacher even put a lot on the defense that they have to make a lot of plays and carry them to victory. If the D can contribute turnovers and Hester gets a chance to return some kicks? Even Curtis Painter would win with that formula. I think the Bears will be all right this weekend, but down the line? We'll see how good this kid Hainey is. I still havn't seen him enough even in preseason for a reasonable evaluation.
