As someone that despises the Knicks there are a few things in this deal that make me happy. 1 thing is that if you have been following you know that this decision was not made by their GM Donnie Walsh who is one of the most respected guys in the business. Dolan along with his bff Isiah who ran the Knicks into the ground once before along the the CAA and WWWes colluded behind his back and Dolan went over his head to make this trade. Walsh has been the best thing that happened to the Knicks in the last 10 years and this might have ruined his relation and i think he will resign soon.

The 2nd thing to be happy about is that NY will now have 2 guys making $40M combined for the next 3 years. Atleast the 3 fags in Miami had the foresight to take paycuts (helped out a bit by Miami not having a tax). Noone really knows how the new CBA will play out but noone expects it to get more cap friendly, if anything it'll make things harder. So the Nix will have a hell of a time trying to build around those 2.

They will be good, but they wont be winning any championships. I guess i can hang my hat on that for now. Hey Miami, move over. Nix are back at the top of my most hated list.

Another very unDonnie Walsh like move. I just read that Billups will have his option picked up for the 2011 season. Rather not option but he wont be bought out and get the full 14mil he is owed. He has a 3M buy out.

When the rumors about the Nets 1st started his agent made a big fuss about how Billups didn't want to trade there. Well it was not really about playing for the Nets, it was about the money as usual. That situation was solved by NJ promising not to buy him out next year. And apparently, so did the Knicks. Most experts expected Billups to be bought out and resigned for a smaller deal, noone in their right mind believes the guys is worth 14M at the age of 36. But i guess its another one of the sacrifices the Knicks were bamboozled into.

This is an incredibly short-sighted and poor move by the Knicks. They could have been patient and got Melo in the offseason for nothing more than a large contract, but instead they mortgaged away their future by giving up young talent and multiple draft picks. This deal reeks of Isiah.

The only reason to pull the trigger on this now is if they thought they can seriously contend THIS YEAR. Does anyone truly look at that lineup and think that is possible? Waiting until summer would have been the MUCH more prudent move.

The Nuggets came out the winner here. They took half the Knicks starting roster and have the 2 players with the most upside. Melo has already peaked and Billups is gonna retire within a couple years.
