#73You do know that a rugby game is 50% kicking right? Any player is a punter or kicker at any given time. So which football players will you start in a rugby game? Will you go with all WR's for speed, LB's for toughness, QB's for brains? Please enlighten me with your starting line-up for a rugby game comprised with current NFL pros.
hahaha please stop now. NFL players would whoop the shit out of rugby players. All of the tough DB's and linebackers would kill those rugby guysComment -

I see them pitching the ball 5-6 times until they get in on the edge so they can go 1 on 1. Imagine pitching to a guy like brian westbrook on the edge 1 on 1 with a much slower rugby man. West would score 9/10 times on that.
I would go with mostly rbs to be honest with ya. You'll need some lbs in there to sure up the defense. But rbs can tackle as well.
From what i've seen rubgy is basically all running and pitching, so i'd want the best guys who can take the defensive man 1 on 1. They also run inside in rugby. So i'd take a few guys who can move the pile like larry johnson and stephen jackson.Comment -

#76Yes, I forgot to say. American football is very interesting. There is action for 10 seconds and then there is a break for 5 minutes for all the strategy stuff and then there is action for another 10 seconds...
Great stuff.
However, I prefer baseball. A guy throws a ball and another guy is trying to hit it. and then it is another teams turn to throw the ball. Such a manly sport.
I personally only watch NBA and NHL, probably because it is european sport as well and because there are so many europeans playing it
In contrary, football has the highest number of homosexuals due to pure statistics. The probability of turning into a homosexual is higher in football due to the shear volume of players taking a shower naked per sport after the game. Having 60 guys taking a shower together creates more homosexuals than having 11 guys taking a shower together.
Your arguements are as lame as your sport picks. Be quiet and will be ignored. Be vocal and you will be ridiculed.
Soccer players are tough, but to say there are tougher than american football players is a joke. They might get slide tackled 5-10x a match depending on position. They are trying to get the ball/trip your legs. I don't know anyone whose died as a result to a injury from soccer. Also the NFL injuries are often more severe and numerous than soccer related injuries.
Anyone can have a heart attack, not everyone dies due injuries from playing a sport. NFL players have been permentely disabled and even died from injuries sustained from playing the sport. Soccer is a bunch of european pussies, that only rejected atheletes that couldn't make it in football/basketball/baseball, then they see soccer and give it a try. Thats the mentality in the US and thats why we will never be a premier soccer power. Our athletes have real sports to play.Comment -

Julius Peppers, Mario Williams, Demarcus Ware, Shawn Merriman, those kind of defensive players with size and strength would be on my rugby team. Then I would throw in some of the tougher db's like Bob Sanders, Troy Polumalu, (Sean Taylor), those kind of players. The rugby team would have no chanceComment -

#78You will still lose because the real rugby team with the real punters will be punting the ball 50-60 yds all the time to your end zone and then force you to start your attack from your own end because they know your team will not have anyone in the field that can punt more than 5 yards. Your NFL team will be so much exausted in the first half from having to constanly start from their own endzone that second half will be a walk in the park for the pro rugby team.Comment -

#80So if soccer is constant action is that why they just kick the ball down the field and hope someone will go run and chase it? Soccer is boring to watch, they pass it back in forth. 90% of the game occurs near midfield. Its boring and retarded to watch.
Europe is more tolerant of homosexuals. America isn't. Homosexual players would never knowingly be drafted or signed to contract in the NFL.Comment -

Until they run into a guy who knows how to tackle, such as Brian Urlacher... 6'6 240 and runs a 4.5 easy. Rugby guy would be down and out for the count.Comment -

#85It all depends on how you define tough.
Personally I think the toughest sport in America is football because that is what the toughest guys in America play.
In America the guys who cant hack it in football go out and beat the hell out of each other playing rugby. Since they are lower quality athletes bashing each other its not as tough.
Americans hate soccer because you can benefit greatly from flopping around on the ground and pretending to be hurt. The rest of the world sees it as gamesmanship but Americans see it as poosy shyte.
Basketball players are being wheel chaired off the court because of shoulder injuries these days so bball is also seen as a poosy sport here. And don't get me started on taking a charge. There is nothing gayer then letting another man run you over while you stand there cowaring and guarding your junk.
I don't know anything about Hockey but those are guys are literally risking their necks out their so you'd have to call hockey a tough sport.
All in all I'd have to say that in America Football is the toughest sport.
1. Its not exlusionary like basketball and soccer. You cant play basketball at under 6 feet and you cant play soccer if you weigh more than 185 I'm guessing but football includes all shapes and sizes. So if you are at the top of pro football you have beaten all comers, not some small group of those who have similar genetics.
2. There isnt another sport in the world that generates these type of collision. The pads dont prohibit pain or injury as much as they allow a grown beast of a man to propel himself as if he were ballistic. Alot of dumbasszzes assume that the pads soften blows. No dipsticks, the pads allow me to throw myself through your midsection at 25mph without cracking my skull. Those ribs are still going to break. Your brain is still going to ricochet off your skull.
A funny aside about soccer. Aren't the fans usually tougher than the players?????Comment -

#88I don't believe this. There's a reason nfl men hardly have any body fat. B/c they are elite athletes. In training camp they run run run do drills etc. NFL training camp has to be one of the toughest things to complete. The wrs run 50 yds every play at full speed. RBs carry the ball 25 times a game, block, run for their lives, not like they don't do much either. So there's no way endurance of rugby men is better. Hence , thats why they carry more fat on their bodies.

#89its the fact that they have played the game their entire life...if you are a professional at your sport there is no way you are going to lose against an unexperienced team that hasnt played the game...i think nfl players are arguably the most athletic people in the world dont get me wrong...but just because you excel at one sport does not mean you will excel at a somewhat similar sport...
I know what u are saying about thats what they've done for their whole lives. I usually take the side of people do it their whole lives. But in this case, i just see the nfl men having the same power if not more and a decisive speed advantage so i can't see how they'd lose.Comment -

There was a day when the f team was still better than the rest of the world and that has changed. Kudos to the ugly skinny white guys for catching up. However the A team is a much different story.

#94Can you please give Ethiopia the memo that there is a thing called money and I don't appreciate them paying me in giraffe sh!t for the hockey equipment they are intending to use to throw in their tribal fires?
All you need for soccer is a ball and boredom to play. Heck you don't even need goals because god forbid someone will score in the game. Does anyone in Ethiopia even know what ice is?
Soccer's a cheap activity that is for the socially retarded. Stand on a field. Follow the ball. 1 rule, don't use your hands unless you have this flaming multi-colored vest on.
It's #1 in the world. So what? The #1 idea in the world prior to 1492 was the world was flat. That turned out to be true right? Just because it's popular doesn't mean its right. Take a look at some of the consensus bets on covers.com. I've seen picks where 75% of the people were wrong on predicting the outcome of a game, but because they predicted it and they're in the majority, that should change the outcome of the result? I don't think so.
and u are truely oblivious on how much soccer players get paid throughout the world, arent u. they make football players contracts seem as if they are the specs that work in the USA.Comment -

#102At the highest level any sport is life or death. If you don't play with that attitude you don't belong at the highest level. So the whole argument about which sport is tougher is about as interesting as the question if the Patriots will go undefeated. Frankly, I see no difference with kids in a sandbox quarreling about who's father is stronger.
From a gambling perspective any sport where I have an edge is a great sport. Recently added NHL dogs to my 'portfolio'. Never cared for hockey, but now I love it.Comment -

I hope you realize that rugby requires far, far more endurance than football and that rugby players have to sacrifice some power for endurance.
Also, if you think you could take a team of football players and have them beat the All Blacks in rugby, you're delusional. I'd be willing to wager every penny I have on it and probably on any point spread under 100 given that the game wasn't played in a monsoon.Comment -
