Own my own company, so I pay too much. Premiums have gone up 20%+ every year since I started offering it. Health reform can't kick in soon enough.[B][B]They key isn't getting rich quick. The key is getting rich slowly, and enjoying it.

You American all have your heads up your own asses on this subject.
Are you aware that the US spends more on health care as a % of the GDP than any other Western nation... but no universal health care, Interesting no?Comment -

#1135, Aflac, $29 a month. I didnt take the vision insurance, it was cheaper for me to just pay cash twice a year for contacts than for the premium.Comment -

#15I currently win in the Hospital Systems... Over 30% of the population in the town has ZERO insurance coverage. The Hospital that I work at (A top 100 Hospital in the U.S) offers a 40% uninsured discount program. So if you are in for a procedue that you use the Emergency room say Because you need 5 stitches on your head because you cut it open would cost $690.09 but because you don't have insurance we knock the bill down to $414.05. Now seems like a good deal if you are most of the time healthy. But if you need any procedure that is going to keep you in the hospital for a week, you better have insurance.
Another program we have is for people that do have insurance. Because the hospital I work at is non profit we get a bunch of grants and loans from the feds (Hill Burton Act 1946) That we can give additional discounts on patients bills.
For instance If you are a Single person Making under 28K per year we can give an additional 60 to 100% off your hospital bill after your insurance pays.
If you are a family of 4 then anything under $55,125 would qualify for more help off your bill.
Now if you are making those figures it is hard to come up with funds to pay on medical bills. But a lot of hospitals have "Un-insured Discounts", Hospital Sponsored Charity Care Programs, and Hardship programs that you can be on.
What is sad is that our town is close by a couple of other towns that has quite a few illegal Somalian and Mexicans that use our hospital come rack up a bill and never get a dime. Because they don't pay for their bills what happens to the cost of things? it goes up!... When they do use the Emergency Room they use it because they have a headache or their arm is sore, or their kid won't stop crying and they think there is something wrong.... In my opinion NON EMERGENCY related is what they use it for. Again racking up the bill and never paying it leaving the bill to be written off to bad debt...
Right now my insurance every month is $16 for $1500 Deductible with no lifetime cap on the policy.Comment -

#18I also live in Canada, but Canadians still have to pay (unless they pay for health insurance) for the prescriptions. My wife and I both have company paid helath insurance plans. I pay $0 for prescriptions, dental and optical. Just because we live in Canada it doesn't mean everything is FREE.
Now going to the hospital, dr. office is free as part of our universal health coverage, BUT it still isn't free. I believe Canadians still pay higher taxes than the Yanks do so we do end up paying for it through out taxes.Comment -
