Looks like it was worth the difference between a push and a loss tonight

A point isnt worth shit? If you're betting real money it matters a lot.

Depending on the point, it can be worth a lot.

Half points can be huge. 3 and half, 6 and half.

How is a point not worth anything if it got you a push instead of a loss?

you give me too much credit.
all I did was check Pinny at at 7:whatever p.m., checked the 4 books I used and took the 17.
Who knew Ohio would fukk-up a PAT?
was hoping to generate more discussion on the value of a full point long term, but this game turned out to be the one of those ~3% or whatever unlikely percentage games where it mattered. Now I'll never be on SBR's payroll.
easier to generate conversation if this thing would have lost. then I could have taken the indefensible position that a point doesn't matter.
which would have brought out the sharps, squares and yahoos galore. there would have been angry stroking of keyboards screaming about how dumb I am and how everybody was right that I am not smart and blah, blah, blah. this would have been a teachable moment.
the problem with setting a trap is sometimes the bait gets up and walks away.

wow i didn't see 17 at any of the top shops
even bodog's square lines only got up to 16 1/2
i am guessing that book remains nameless because you don't want to get criticized for playing at a sub-standard book?

2.5 to 3.5 is the biggest number between a win and a loss. Some places will charge 30-40 cents just to buy off off 3 to 3.5

But that is the point.
You can't judge the value of the point based on this situation alone. Just as you cannot judge the efficiency of the market based on outcomes of a few games.
You can however, know that the market is efficient. You should also do everything you can to beat the market by getting a better number, even it is a half point.
Assuming the market is efficient, both teams would cover that 16 an equal amount of time, and a small percentage would push.

I thought 17 was one of the more common college key numbers. You can heck our half-point calculator or ask about it in the Think Tank for more on that.
