Conquering Risk (Feustel) & Sports Investing (Fabrizio)
These 2 books are available via the SBR Store so I assume that they are of high quality. You can never be too sure… tons of books are available out there that aren’t worth sh**. Honestly, I’ve learned more at this forum in the last 2 years than I’ve ever leaned reading a gambling/sports book. I’m looking to add these to my library if they are half decent.

Have you read either or both? If so, what are your thoughts???

I'm in the process of reading Conquering Risk. I'm about 120 pages in or so. So far I have found it very interesting and have learned some good tips. However, this is the first gambling\betting book that I have ever read. So take my word with a grain of salt. I am just getting to the part where he discusses creating your own models (something which I have never done in the past).

I would recommend it. I have been sports betting for about 7 years now, but haven't really started taking it seriously until probably the last 2 years. The first five I was your regular rec gambler that lost more than won and just bet on games that I liked with little research involved. Hope this helps, but I would recommend getting it, especially since you can get it for free(essentially) using SBR points.

Thanks ouman. I've been reading a few of the reviews and all have been very positive (4 or 5 stars). I may post a couple of them here incase anyone else is interested.

You know the guy who wrote it is a moderator on this site right? You should check his personal page (Justin7's Page) to get a general idea of his "level" of coverage. As well you might think about reading some of his posts in the "Handicapper Think Tank" sub-forum.

Yes. I've read in a couple of threads that people were reading 'Justin7's' book. But nothing more than that. I look forward to reading it and maybe getting some additional info from him via that tread that you mentioned.

Never read any books about gambling. I always bet with my instict. And my instict is right more times than wrong. You either have it as a successful gambler or you don't. This reminds me of people who want to lose weight and they buy a book on how to lose weight. You don't need a book you need to eat less.

Pavy - you make a VERY good point! The thing is... I'm not Fat but I want to read that book anyway to learn how to eat even better. I'm just a #'s guy. I have a masters degree in finance and have worked for a few months on different models for betting on sports vs investing in the market. I've actually had some success... my old local stopped giving me totals, then started increasing juice until I stopped betting with him. My current local is getting a clue now as well.

Yes I agree. Fit people should read the how to lose weight book to see if what they do will keep then slim. But fat people should not read books on how to lose weight. They should eat less or exercise. Do you think people who want to quit smoking should buy a book on how to quit smoking?

That money would probably be better spent on some chewing gum or the patch.
