Wayne Gretski and Michael Jordan have to mentioned in this conversation. Usain Bolt also.

Only if you decided the topic of conversation should be completely changed. Jordan played for the Wizards, Gretzky played for both Oilers and Kings, then bounced around a little at the end.

Basketball starting five would be: Magic, Kobe, Bird, Duncan, and Bill Russell.

    MLB starting lineup:
    C Johnny Bench
    1B Lou Gehrig
    2B Jackie Robinson
    SS Cal Ripken
    3B Mike Schmidt
    LF Ted Williams
    CF Mickey Mantle
    RF Mel Ott
    DH Edgar Martinez
    P Walter Johnson

I think that everyone I listed qualifies. Closest misses are David Robinson, Steph Curry, Al Kaline, Roberto Clemente.

    I like this answer.

How about best Olympic athlete to play for more than one team? Naim Suleymanoglu would be my first thought, but because of the 84 boycott did not compete for Bulgaria at the Olympics, though he did set world records when competing for them. 80s / 90s Russia might be the best place to look for the answer.

Bolt should have tried the NFL. Throw some pads on him and he could have had just one route. Usain you run fast, I'll throw you the ball.

I'm sure that he's not poor, but he might have been able to make some big money.

Being Jamaican though, he might have had to give up the weed.

Yup. He'd be open on every deep pass if the safeties didn't come over to help. Brady to Bolt would have been fun to watch.

I've watched some old video footage/interviews of '80s Dolphin games. Shula would call a run or something and Marino would say "Nah we're not running that. Dupe go deep." Mark Duper was a college track star, and it usually worked. Eventually Shula (RIP), just let Dan do whatever he wanted. Jimmy Johnson not so much.

I just wish they could have put a defense together.

Yup, you are a young kid in a small city and rooting for your team and star player, you have a poster of that star team player on your wall. Dad takes you to the games.

Then the star player is traded in free agency the next year.. Kid fan is then devastated.. .

Kids and fans then burn his jersey and tear up their playing cards. Lebron comes to mind.

For this to make any sense, you are going to need to explain the sadness that came when the Rockets didn't want to pay the same amount that the Raptors were willing to pay Hakeem Olajuwon at the end of his career.

Would also help to explain the part about "these days", when it happened 90 years ago with Babe Ruth finishing his career with the Braves, after the Yankees no longer wanted to pay him any money.
