Patrick Day the boxer in critical condition

Charles Conwell has vowed to use Patrick Day as motivation to become world champion as his fellow American fights for his life after suffering a traumatic brain injury in their bout on Saturday.Day was knocked out by Conwell in the 10th round of the super welterweight fight in Chicago and remains in an "extremely critical condition" in Northwestern Memorial Hospital following emergency surgery on Sunday.Conwell has written a poignant letter to his fellow American, stating it will be the last time he comments on the situation out of respect for Day's family and friends, himself and the sport of boxing.

Hard to keep fighting knowing you ended up killing someone. Will be very tough to get over mentally.

Damn, RIP. With how much backlash the NFL gets, I'm surprised the UFC is still growing and boxing is still alive and well. No way these sports can last much longer without adding headgear.

The end of UFC will be a female who became a male then wants to fight and gets fukin destroyed and dies. Then the liberals will be all over the sport.

You know boxing isn't rigged when people are dying left and right from it. Might be the only sport that isn't WWF at this point. RIP

In boxing-even the winner take a good number of shots to the head most times.....less KO power from the gloves ut shot after shot after shot....-

Ya I'm not saying ban the sport but all amateurs wear headgear so why not the pros? Safety measures usually trickle up in sports (OHL juniors wore helmets long before the NHL and then visors too).

Nobody wants to watch pro boxing with headgear. Humans are genetically programmed to enjoy two people knock each other out. If you can't handle the heat, stay out of the kitchen. In boxing world, these fighters dying is just collateral damage.

Having said all that, it was hard to watch Patrick Day fall on the ground with his eyes rolled back, taking a deep breath. Something was majorly wrong...
