Home ice worthless in NHL's playoffs

Fukkin joke, make season 55 games, cup series should be week after SB

Home ice tends to be overvalued in the playoffs, I don't think its worthless.

Tampa Bay sure didn't win.. Take them in the next game though.. I see a rebound happening in game 2..

    Home Ice is 50/50

Teams roll into post season and I'd be curious if HI hits 50% of the time???

If not what's the point...82 games, playoffs in June?? C'mon NHL, let's do the cup after SB or FF...playoffs 2.1-4.1 then cup....

This trash in summer??? No thanks

Take a look at home and away records in NHL standings...it matters a lot.

    Also here:
    http://sagarin.com/sports/nhlsend.htm

You'll see that on a macro level, home ice is worth an additional 0.29 to team rating when comparing matchups.

kind of agree with fats, i dont think its worthless but the higher seed should get a bigger advantage, you play such a long season for a minimal edge

Yeah let’s make it like the nba where home teams cruise. Oh and why we are at it let’s also make it that we already know who is going to win it all. Yes that seems great.
NHL is the only one of the professional sports where anything can happen. Yeah let’s ruin that, that’s not fun at all.

NBA so much tougher to win on the road any night

NHL lacks stars and dominant teams and hurts the game

Also let's make sure that we take a month to play the first round like the NBA. God forbid one game overlaps another. I don't want to miss the Pistons game by mistake.

Why should home ice be such a huge advantage? NBA is all about sightlines anyways. Hockey is a game where goalies can neutralize so many advantages.

Since 2006 NHL Playoffs (2005-06 Season), home teams are 621-508 overall but for -53.56 units

Road teams have actually been profitable overall at +14.65 units despite 45% win pct

Home team making last substitution can be a good benefit

    Jesus lol

LT is like Taylor from Billions

Yeah I'm all about the +$$$ on road NHL's in playoffs. No way should 82 games count for so little.

It is the nature of the game

Head down, sounds on the ice all they pay attention to.

    Different from the other sports.

I think in nhl and nba playoffs the best betting theory is bet the pool prior loser

A lot of home ice teams lose at home to play more home games and owners make more money from tickets and concessions. Have you ever wondered why there are so many game 7's? It's what the owners want.

I'd think an owner would want to get ton2nd round for more games not play down and risk going out early.

Gonna have to look more closely at teams that got points via OT in reg season versus straight up wins.

Meanwhile just play the dogs and increase wages, you'll be plus money each series

Home ice always been substantially overrated in playoffs. NHL and mlb home field basically meaningless. I always play road dogs the 1st 4 games until I get 2 wins.,
