This reminds me of what happened in New Zealand years ago. A 17 year old kid went into the Christchurch casino (you have to be 18+ to gamble in the New Zealand)

He won 50 Thousand dollars, when he told them he was only 17, they of course didnt pay.

He went bitching to the media and said something along the lines of "well they let me in, they should pay me" He came across like he thought the public would support him, the public didnt.

The casino did refund him, what he spent, even though by law they didnt have to.

We've seen jackpots withheld in Nevada because the Dad let his kid pull the handle or the girl let her friend pull a few.

They resort to the security tape to prove the case.

I haven't heard of it in a while, but it's happened.

Hi Tinnou - You've received some great advice here and also I hope you fill out the complaint form if you haven't already but Ladbrokes is a great book and you'll get your deposit back. Although I'll need to close this account now as SBR does not permit registration from anyone under 18 either, best of luck in the future and feel free to return when you're of age.

The op will definitely be paid. Ladbrokes are required by law to void all bets and refund all stakes made by anyone under 18 years of age. They will stringently check to make sure the op is under 18. I would imagine they see more cases of people gambling, losing, and then claiming to be under 18 than winning and being underage. Every action Ladbrokes takes here will probably require authorisation from the regulating body. I doubt Ladbrokes are allowed to send a refund check or mail order to someone under 18 any more than they can pay winnings to someone under 18 without that authorisation. The regulators will be more interested in why Ladbrokes didn't find out the player was under 18 sooner. It's a messy situation and i'm not surprised its taking a long time.

I'm not so sure of that. Given that it was a small deposit I guess they would just refund it to avoid the risk of any fines by UK regulation.

if there is no cash out, the book just keeps the money and the person just accepts the loss

if sportsbooks wanted to protect the customer, verified identity should happen on deposits

not when someone wants to cash out

    Ladbrokes do do that.

They use an ID verification company that matches signup info to electoral rolls and other public info.

If they verify you electronically like that, and you then use a card to deposit, or withdraw to a bank account in the right name, you earn enough "points" to be IDed without doing more.

If you don't pass the initial e-test, as you may have just moved home for example, then Ladbrokes will give you an alert when you log in that extra ID is needed within 30 days. This might be a passport, power bill, etc.

If they are not satisfied with that, you can end up having to send selfies or go through Skype interviews.

Books may not "want" to protect customers, but in legal jurisdictions it already costs them millions in fines not irregularly for cocking it up.

As someone esle said above, if they could not just return the deposit to the card used, they are probably in a legal quandary about how to pay him back. It's likely illegal fro them to just send an under 18yo money in a way not covered by their license.

I don't know, or know how long he lasted.

But he didn't make it through or he wouldn't be here.

It seems to take up to 3 days for initial verification stuff to happen at UK books. Before they ask for more ID if needed.

So, I deposited 50 euro's to the ladbrokes site and tried to bet. I won some money and I tried to withdraw the money. Unfortunately I couldn't withdraw the money because I needed to give them my ID. I gave them my ID and they said that I was to young to play on the site and that therefore my account would be closed and their Payments department would refund back to my card the full deposit/s made whilst my account was open. So I waited, and waited... But I never got the money. I contacted them telling them I didn't get refunded and they asked me if I could send them my bank info so they could refund me my money. I did what they asked me to do and I waited again... Two weeks later I and I still didn't get refunded. So, I contacted them again a second time. I got the same message and they also assured me they would refund me my money this time. So I gave them my bank info again and waited again... Two weeks later I'm writing this and I don't know what to do. What can I do to get my money back. Please help me..
Under 18? I can and will help you, but need to get to know you a little first. Let's go camping.
