I am a die hard, born and raised Chicago sox fan and i love this trade. I thought Quintana needs to much learning with his mindset and confidence. He implodes after a couple hits. i would like to see the stats of games he pitched and how many he was pulled out by the fifth. Sox with 9 top 100 prospects? I'll take it. I wish Reinsdorf would take this approach with his circus act bulls

quintana should have abetter second half in weak hitting NL and he will face one less real batter everyday now with no dh.

There are no starting pitchers out there that are worth considering giving up a king's ransom unless deGrom or Bumgarner are put on the market. Better to bulk up the bullpens. It'll be a lot less expensive in prospects.

if the cubs tried to buy an arm on the free agent market for 3 years next offseason that is comparable to Q, it would cost them about 75 millions for those 3 years.

Great trade for both teams. Cubs didn't have any room for Jimenez anyway and who knows if he'll even be good. Cease could be a great pitcher...but we've heard that before. Sox have the time to give these kids a chance, Cubs already have their best young players up in the bigs and won the WS very early considering the age of their position players. Quintana solid 2-3 pitcher in the rotation and will be even that much better in a weaker hitting NL. Cubs desperately needed a starting pitching boost so it's perfect. Let's see if they can come back and win the central. Go Cubs!

And Shocka Cubs aren't garbage, if u haven't noticed, it's kinda hard to repeat as WS champs. Happens very rarely, baseball is hard fyi. I'm a big Cubs fan, nervous about their struggles this year but it's all about getting to the playoffs and getting hot. And that's very attainable in the NL Central.

He's put up consistent mid-3 ERA for a shitty AL team with a shitty defense. Move him to the NL with a really good defense and he could very well be sub-3 ERA over the next 3.5 seasons.

My take on Stearns is that he's not super confident in the Brewers hanging on and winning the division so he doesn't want to give up his young talent for a rental for the rest of the season when it might not make a difference anyway. He'd rather hold on to his players for the future because he obviously has an up and coming team. I can respect that. So move out of the way the Cubs are gonna make that run lol!

When Joe Maddon met on Friday with his newest starter, Jose Quintana, the manager encouraged the left-hander to be himself and pointed out that the Cubs don't have many rules. Maddon also told Quintana this was a great opportunity to have an impact on the Cubs in the second half.
"When you say that, some guys give you the wrong look," Maddon said. "He was very good with that thought and very comfortable with that thought. You're always concerned about who accepts pressure, and I thought he accepted it really well."
"It's over and that's good," Quintana said of the trade rumors. "It's a fresh start. I just want to do my job and make the playoffs. I've never been to the playoffs and I have a good chance here."
The lefty will start Sunday against the Orioles and will be the third pitcher to make starts for both the Cubs and White Sox in the same season, joining Bob Miller (1970) and Steve Renko (1977). Quintana called it a perfect trade because he didn't have to move -- he'll just be driving north from his downtown Chicago apartment to Wrigley Field, and not south.

Chicago White Sox general manager Rick Hahn said that he called Chicago Cubs general manager Theo Epstein to gauge interest in left-handed starting pitcher Jose Quintana after Cubs lefty Jon Lester gave up 10 runs against the Pittsburgh Pirates back on July 9, according to Alex Speier of The Boston Globe.
The Cubs acquired Quintana from the White Sox on July 13.
The 28-year-old has made four starts since being traded to the defending World Series champions, going 2-1 with a 4.13 ERA and allowing 18 hits while striking out 31 batters in 24 innings of work.
