The US is the play. All the talk is about how they almost were busted out by a shot that hit the post but the fact is that the US had some chances earlier that were much better than Portugal's near-dagger; the fact is that the US led 17-6 in shots, 6-0 on goal and 6-1 in corners. Portugal is ranked around 20th, they're not like a lot of the de facto amateur teams that you see in women's soccer; to shut them out in SOG and almost do so in corners is pretty impressive. All the attention is on one shot because it happened late in the game but the US performance was much better than it's being perceived and they're underbet.

*I mentioned that expansion of Field to 32 meant there are too many teams now.
*The Spain/Japan group had two real outsiders. Easy group.
*Did Japan beating Spain really do anything for them? Not IMHO. I think Japan only got the tougher draw.
I know Japan looks really good. Just not reading much into their group success. Will gladly take this price.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment -

#222I think Spain matches up really well against the Swiss. I don't envision the flaccid Swiss offense scoring a goal against Spain. While the Swiss defense is rock solid, I think Spain wears them down as the games goes on. Some plays to ponder:
Under 1 goal 1st half
Spain to win to nil (+110) *Like this one the best*
Draw HT/Spain FT (+320)
The upper bracket is loaded with Spain, Netherlands, Japan, Norway, Sweden, USA. Tough for me to make a pick.
The bottom half of the bracket is much weaker IMO. I think we're going to see Australia vs England in the semis with England advancing to the championship. The Three Lions are the deserving favorite at +300 and are my pick to win it all at this stage of the tournament.Last edited by MoneylineExpress; 08-03-23, 12:08 AM.Comment -

Bumping Drunk's writeup. I echo Drunk's thoughts, I couldn't really say it any better.
Based on current form, Sweden looks stronger. I have to give the Americans some credit for pedigree. Think there's hidden value on USA.
I think it only HELPS the bet that the Americans have become un-likable. Looks like they're regressing, but I think they're ready to break out.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment -

I saw an early line of 2.05. Was hoping for a little higher, so I played 2.15 when I saw it.
Betting markets can be very tricky. There's the perception on what looks right, and then there's the fair price.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment -

#233Quick shout-out:
*I have to say the info on this tournament has been very good in the Forum.
Props to guys like Franz, Headster, and Coop-Dog (among others). I used to follow the women's soccer closely. Got too busy, I guess.
Still a lot to be decided at the business end of this tournament. And it's much more wide open than I expected.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment -

#234Tonight begins the Round of 16! The under is dropping steadily and always nervous when line movement keeps going but going jump in with the under for the first game:
Switzerland +0.5 (+233) v. Spain / u2.5 (-115)
The knockout rounds of the Women's World Cup 2023 will kick off with an-all European tie between Switzerland Women and Spain Women Switzerland finished top of Group A with seven points to their name, while Spain finished runners-up in Group C behind Japan.
Switzerland began their campaign with a 2-0 win over the Philippines, before frustrating Norway on Matchday Two to take a crucial point from a goalless affair.
They were involved in another 0-0 draw against New Zealand on Monday, with the result securing their passage to the last 16 and resulting in an early exit for the tournament co-hosts.
La Nati have now drawn seven of their last nine internationals (W1, L1), proving that they are a tough team to beat even if victories are hard to come by.
Switzerland are one of three teams yet to concede a goal in the tournament, and they will be looking to produce another strong defensive performance on Saturday as they attempt to reach a quarter-final at a major tournament for the first time in their history.Comment -
