Urgent: Change Your Neteller Password

If you have a balance people, get over to NT and change that password.

This has happen to at least one other poster in forum land.

And we are now thinking that this is not about the password being figure out, but rather just a group using a list of account ids and secure ids to request money. Both Pay Pro and 10bet only require that information and an amount to deposit.

So it is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT that you call Neteller and get your secure account id changed.

Obviously some book has been saving this information and that list ended up in the hands of someone willing to use it.

Yes, unfortunately it is the Secure ID you have to be worried about. As far as I know it cannot be changed online.

Maybe we can found out what books these hacked accounts had in common. Somebody may be selling a list.

Changing your secure ID is pretty easy. Well, it was easy, haven't tried it in the last 2 weeks. I am sure NT customer service is swamped.

I would just call them, say I want my secure ID changed to be safe and they issue you a new one and email it. Remember to delete the email once you write it down.

I changed my secure ID about every 3-6 months. If you have played at alot of sites, you never know when one of them might turn rogue on you.

if neteller is hooked to your bank account can they pull funds from your bank account into neteller, then transfer it? or if i have nothing in neteller i don't need to worry?

Many books when you did a neteller deposit asked for your secure id also. If your book account password is the same as your neteller password then they have all your info

Good question. I don't think these people have access to your password, only a list of account ID and user ID. So I think they can only attempt to withdraw that way.

Bump. More people continue to get hit by this for thousands of dollars. Neteller certainly hasn't shut these thieves down. Get a new Secure ID ASAP if you value your money.

Neteller being an ass again. Since this is public knowledge for quite some time, they should automatically generate new Secure IDs for everyone. This is an extremely simple process...

Neteller/new secure id

Had this happen to me, fortunately not for a large amount. Was a good wakeup call, in the past I often had several thousandin my nt account. Haven't heard back from nt security in the 10 days since i notified them.
It seems to me that getting a new secure id would only be effective until youmade a transfer to a sportsbook or poker room, at which time it could be compromised again.
Wouldn't you have to change your secure id each time you made a transfer?

For now you are safe Doug. I would do it myself even then just because I like to have security even on dormant accounts. But given Neteller will likely never enter US market again you should be ok.

neteller crooks

Gee, 10 days of investigation by neteller, and still no information as to where my money has gone and how someone was able to access my account. Called again and was told that there was a message on my account from security that I should change my "secure id"
They didn't even have the courtesy to send me an email.
According to the customer service rep i talked to they are not responsible if my account is fraudelently accessed. I asked how i could ever use their service again if their service is not secure. their response is that i should change my password and secure id monthly. I responded how would that be effective if you have to give your secure id each time you transfer money to a website. She responded perhaps i should not transfer money to a site if i am not sure it's secure.
Ian't that why neteller exists, to supposedly transfer funds in a secure manner?
Asked to talk to security so that i could find out how to secure my account so this doesn't happen again, and the response was that you cannot actually talk to security, they only respond to emails.
I realize that most of the posters here are from the USA, and are unable to access neteller any more, but for those of us from other countries (I am from Canada) I cannot warn you strongly enough, Neteller IS NOT SECURE, never leave more than an absolute minimum of funds in your account at any time.

I figured NT would still be around 6 months from now, and use the points then, instead of when everybody is tossing in their millions of points, no biggie... I considered a million NT points to be maybe worth $1
... before they tanked.
