I think the rule applies in college also (correct me if I'm wrong), but in the NFL if a team scores a TD with no time left and the PAT will have no chance to affect the outcome of the game, they will just end the game.

You have to wonder if they'll end that practice soon. It was put in originally to discourage gamblers and gambling. Now the NFL has an "official" sportsbook lol

The way markets work is when everyone knows something markets price that factor in. It has zero affect on gambling.

Joey bet a tennis match and the guy told the chair umpire “f.ck you” and was DQed while up in the 1st set. Figured it be Void. Sure as shit bet365 graded it as a loss. Agree you gotta know the rules

The rule has nothing to do with gambling, and discouraging gambling would be biting the hand that feeds anyways.

It's just a way of ending the game if there's no time left on the clock and the PAT is inconsequential.

I think it only applies, at least in NFL, if the team wins the game with no time remaining. Not quite sure about NFL, but in college if team scores TD with no time remaining, it’s the team’s decision on whether to try PAT or not. So LSU had the opportunity to try PAT if they wanted to do it but declined.

In NFL, they don't kick, it's not optional. Is it really optional in college? Did the refs actually ask them? Seemed like everyone just rushed the field right away. Why would a team bother if it's meaningless? Of course the TD itself was meaningless, but they sure wanted it.

I remember when the Packers had to come out of the locker room for an extra point after they lost a game to the replacement refs. The rule change has been recent, but has nothing to do with gambling. Its the same as not kicking extra points in overtime.

If TD is scored on final play, they only attempt the conversion if score is within 2 points either way. Although if UP by 1 or 2, most teams just take a knee.

Not true Headsterx, game is over if score is not within 2 points either way, there is no option. Same rule as NFL.

Correct. A two point conversion attempt can be returned by the defense for two points. So in some situations both teams have a chance to score.

Actually, I think they can return a blocked extra point as well, but I know those rules can be different at all levels and the NFL has changed that rule recently.

This is a stupid rule. Hockey or soccer don't have stupid rules. If a team is up 7-0 and there are 20 seconds left do they blow the whistle short because there is no way to score 7 goals in 20 seconds in these sports?

Except nobody is "blowing the whistle short" in the scenario we're discussing.

There's literally no time left on the clock, all 60 minutes have expired.

I wouldn’t know that rule about tennis.

But how many times have we seen a TD on the last play of game and no extra point kicked? The NFL changed the rule back in 2018 and college has always been like that as far as I know.

In this game. I would only affect a 13 pt monster tease on the under depending if the original line was 49.5. Otherwise all other bets would not be affected in any way
