As it stands , both teams are tied with 6 pts and Russia has the better goal diff by 5 goals ( 8 - 1 vs 2 - 0). The winner of Group A gets 2nd place in Group B ( Portugal 4pts or Spain 4pts ) while the 2nd in Group A will take on the winner of Group B. Uruguay must win in order to play B2. Russia have played way beyond expectations and seem inspired the past 2 games. Uruguay are just a model of efficiency, with the nucleus of several players who have been here before. Suarez , Cavani , Stuani , Godin and Giminez all play with big clubs professionally , and have endless experience in big games. Uruguay have not conceded a goal in their past 5 games , all wins . As impressed as i have been with Russia , only 1 week ago, this generous line for Uruguay didnt exist. I will go with the experience over emotion and cross my fingers.

Its a real shiit show. Or is it ? What do you do to take pressure away from your players after losing a huge game. You take on the public scrutiny as your own. Just saying. Who is talking about their poor play right now. Who is pointing fingers at Messi and Co right now ? Nobody, its all the propoganda articles being printed.

Its pretty simple for Argentina.....WIN or go home for sure. WIN and score plenty of goals, and you may have a chance to advance. For Nigeria its a simple case of owning your own fate by winning over Argentina. A draw may still do it as well , but you will be relying on an uninspired Croatia to beat Iceland. If i were given this scenario with the likes of Messi , Aguero , Di Maria , Banega and Higuain available to me, i would think the above is very doable. Time for the coach , whoever that may be by Tuesday , to let the talent run wild. I think they rise to the occasion.

Croatia have already locked up the Group's #1 spot , so this game is only a walk though on paper. Much respect to their coach for fielding a very competitive side ( Modiric ,Perisic , Kovacic , Kramaric..... ). Not sure how long they play for , so i will sprinkle a bit on 1st half as well. Iceland cant sit back with 11 men behind the ball today , only a win will give them any iota of hope. It should create some space in behind their midfield today.
