Both Ozil and Khedira have been injured the past few weeks. Since neither was 100% as yet , and it showed vs Mexico , Loew was forced to make a change. He is going with Rudy and Reus as their replacements. Hummels is being replaced by Rudiger , so pace will not be an issue on the back line.

Franz, how do u see the personnel playing out here? I think Ozil/Khedira departure = a GOOD thing.

Reus may be a live-wire here. I thought Germany unusually rushed shots last game. Maybe less nervy today.

Since both Khedira and Ozil were playing injured last game , i see healthy replacements as a good thing.

Unbelievable finish...

I've never seen another player tee up a free kick like that before. It was almost as if he was playing the part of the holder like in a FG or extra point in American Football.

Then the kick was spot on. Kroos has practiced this shot thousands of times in his life. I'm glad he got it right.
