#7422O.K. lets see how this week went for my stock plays.
AQB: AquaBounty Technologies Inc
I picked this one up after reading on this very thread about the genetic alteration of salmon that will enable the acceleration of time to market with the fish. I placed a trailing stop entry and a day or so later, it hit the target and then it was off to the races for about a 10% gain so far. Of course I only put $100 behind it so now I have to put on the smuck shirt. I'll wait to see what happens over the next week or so then decide if I will add to it.

I have just been watching this gold miner go down along with everything gold for the last week. I'm still holding and still like a smuck I lowered my stop loss to $22.91 when I should have cut it lose when it dipped below $27.92. I think gold will rebound this week, and if it does get to around $1950, I think I'm selling 50% of the shares in expectation of the range being near or at the top for the short term. I'll probably accumulate more of this stock after the election going into the end of the year.

CCL: Carnival Cruise Corp.
So I got the idea to buy some Cadaver Cruise line a little bit early, and started to scalp and swing trade this one on the way down to mitigate my losses. Then on Friday, they were upgraded a little bit which tossed me a life raft. I sold off some of the shares that I have, and if this trend continues, I plan on trimming off another 530 shares to get my position down to around $7500 give or take. A reading of the chart shows that I'm still around $250 in the hole on this one, so I may continue to trade the stock wildly into the near future. Eventually, I will stop and wait for the vaccine for the China Virus which I think will come. Whether the vaccine is effective is probably irrelevant as this and other vacation related stocks are just waiting for some good news.

Just like everything else related to gold, this one is down for the week. On the chart it shows that my stop loss price is $37.01, but in reality that is just where I'm buying more. Just like AU, I plan on starting to swing trade this when it gets to the top of the range. I'll always keep around 50% of the position just incase breaking news gives gold a reason to pop. Likewise if it collapses, I'm going to buy more. I guess I'm all in for the long range forecast of gold going higher, but during these times, I'll swing trade it for a while until it breaks out.

Same story as the other gold stocks. I know that I stated earlier in the thread that at $175, I was going to buy 50 shares, and if you look I only bought 25 shares. For some reason, my balls were small that day, but I vow to step up and add those 25 shares to the 75 shares I committed to buy at $172.75. Then if it comes back to $170, I'm still buying 200 more shares. Like the other gold stocks, I will swing trade until I see a reason for it to break out.

SCANNER STOCKS
It was a rough week for the scanner stocks as the potential scanner stock from last week SCHN (Schnitzer Steel Inc), started the week buy dropping like a rock below the 9 DMA so I didn't buy it. It is now consolidating a little bit and making a bearish flag pattern so we forget it and move on.
DKS: Dicks Sporting Goods
Dicks finally dipped below the 9 DMA for 2 days and thus was required to sell. All in all, not a bad trade making 16.25% gain over the same time the overall S&P was dropping.

Nuance fell down below the 9DMA on Thursday, and on Friday at around 2:30 in the afternoon, it still had a good bit to go back up if it was to continue to qualify so I sold it. Wouldn't you know, it made the criteria and in the end going by the rules, I should still have it. I don't so I'll move on and be happy to collect my 3.33% gain for the effort but taking note of now putting on the smuck hat to go along with the shirt I'm already wearing for the week.

This week I have no scanner stocks left in the stable but I did get 1 hit on Friday to explore when the market opens on Monday.
MOS: Mosiac Co
This one came up on the scanner and when I looked at the chart, I needed to double check it to make sure it did indeed meet all of the criteria because the chart is pretty unimpressive. To my non-shock, it does meet all the criteria needed, albeit just barely. It has closing days that are removed in both directions so in this climate however just barely making it is probably pretty good so on Monday, if it stays above the 9 DMA I'll buy it for probably 80 shares at a price somewhere in the $18.50 range.Comment -

#7426Can anyone help with an algorithm that helps determine trailing margin stops by %. I'm preservation of capital so I want relatively tight stops ie (I want to sleep at night). I've seen general guidelines suggested in the 10-12% but it seems there needs to be some relativity to share price and % of total holdings. I own shares from 50 cents to $450.
Any help appreciated. Thx!Comment -

#7427Guys, the S&P has now gone past its 50 MA. Pelosi is bullish on Stimulus chances, talking to Mnuchin.
Fed is on all week, as is ECB. Rumor big vaccine news in 2 weeks. Feeling is the September correction is over.
Trump wants market up so will push GOP Senate to pass revamped House Stimulus, as Dems focus on the race
they are not even expected to put up much of a fight against Amy Barrett.
Going with XLF (banks) calls and JBLU calls (Jet Blue) as airlines are in the package and JBLU is among the most sound.Comment -

Still worried about the gold play as I'm loaded pretty heavily and may load up some more if the GLD comes back to $170.
Been doing some research on how the fed operates and watching stuff that shows that his actions are showing up as inflationary. We all know that they are, but I think they have rigged the game so much that it doesn't show in the many indicators. If gold can manage to make it up to $1950, I will unload there in expectation of another pullback. I'm still loading up at GLD $170 which should correspond with around $1750 area in gold price.
Banks are in shytty shape, but for the market to move up and keep going they will have to move so I also will be stepping into XLF, but the SPY will need to get above 335 for me to move.Comment -

it was 11 then gapped to 16 friday, now off $2 to 14 because Hill is not taking the Caesar offer
and exploring other bids like Apollo. The 16 price was getting close to Caesar's buyout offer of 3.7 Billion
but Hill says they are really worth closer to 8 Billion because of their land casinos. I think they will let it go
for no less than 5 Billion absolute minimum so they are definitely not going to sell for anything less than $20/share,
perhaps even 25+. which would be closer to 5 Bil.

I’m researching 3D printing so if anyone has any source material I’d appreciate. Undoubtedly needs a 5-10 year horizon no matter what stock you are investing. So far TRNE/Desktop metal and NNDM have my attention. I bought some NNDM today @1.5 on a small position as it seemed to be swimming near the bottom of their channel.
almost sold off my swing position in Spotify today off this Joe Rogan censorship fiasco. I’m a Rogan fan, and, may disagree with some stuff he says but the guy is inquisitive and disbelieves most things he is sold in the media, which I appreciate. Like he is willing to let a nut job like our dear own Alex Jones come on and spue garbage to really analyze what he is saying and let others decide for themself. Anyway, I held off assuming both sides would find a way to change the PR on this one cause they need him a lot more than he needs them but maybe Joe has already spent some of that 100 million dollar deal. I think most people were expecting this to be more like the Howard Stern deal but we are living In sensitive times. I’ll keep a close eye on this story in anticipation any changes.Comment -

#7436Fake rally on "stimulus hopes" that ain't gonna happen is just about over. Expect to see S&P sub-3,200 before week's end. I'd bet that it's around 3,000 or maybe lower by election day.Comment -

#7438You may be correct. The market is battling today around the 332.15 point in the SPY. Below and that opens the door for a visit at least to the 329.50 area from Friday's close. Yesterday the SPY couldn't get above the 335 area which is the top of one of the recent break down candles from a week or so ago. We keep on getting bad kung-flu news today. I think some of it is on purpose for tonight's debate in an effort to make things look worse than they are. If the market can shake this off and return towards 335 today and not close below 332.15, that would still be bullish in my view however.Comment -

Say for instance, Trump is the one who slips and falls on Biden drool tonight, and people didn't see Biden laying down the spill. This would have a negative effect tomorrow in the market as they would see the fragile nature of the world's fate can swing on the smallest thing.
Then again what if Biden comes out and looks like he is actually alive? This may also throw some water on the bull's fire rally and signal that he is a plausible contestant.Comment -

#7441Went to buy more Nanodimensions and they mooned up 40%, not sure what gives...I’ll wait for a sell off and add more in 1.5 to 1.8 range. Pretty large short float at 2.25 so I doubt it goes much furtherComment -

#7443Not fighting, just waiting for confirmation that's all. The market (SPY) left a pretty big gap from Friday's close and came pretty close to having to go back and revisit today in my opinion. That didn't happen, but the market still has to get above the 335 number it has been hovering around for the last 2 days now. I still think it is a bull flag pattern as it stands now, but things could happen tonight even that will have effects that can be construed as negative.

#7447I mentioned Goodrx a few weeks ago and they had their IPO which of course saw their price go up to insane valuations. I think low 40’s is reasonable for a small entry but would be looking to get average cost in the 30s. I’ll just re-iterate their ease of use and prices are unparalleled and I recommend to patients frequently so I see lots of popularity and growth for this companies future.Comment -

#7448I suppose today is all about stimulus.
Mnuchin made some positive comments, so up now, but we should know by end of day or earlier. Look for huge swings today. Could easily see close 1.5%+ up or down depending.Comment -

#7451Palantir ipo today, I’ve said before I am a strong believer here and I think when all is said and done this will be the top performer in all these shyt shows of ipo’s. It simply hasn’t gotten the same publicity.
Agora; API; I’ve been waiting for a better entry here and pulled the trigger at low 40s. Hoping to get average down at 40
Nano dimensions for the win
Pacb; we may start to see some consolidation and cooling off which may not hurtComment -

#7454Can anyone help with an algorithm that helps determine trailing margin stops by %. I'm preservation of capital so I want relatively tight stops ie (I want to sleep at night). I've seen general guidelines suggested in the 10-12% but it seems there needs to be some relativity to share price and % of total holdings. I own shares from 50 cents to $450.
Any help appreciated. Thx!
indicator: Trailing % Stop.....you'll love it, play around with it.....it even prints buy and sell......
Here is an example....let me know if you need help with it.....
