Saying he is just going to be a utility guy. Doesn't seem right to me. Do you really sign a guy for $50 million to be a utility guy. He is projected to hit .280 15 hrs 87 rbi. The big call up is that kid Bregman. That kid is killing triple A right now.

Yeah, paying a 32-year-old $50 million to be a utility player seems a little odd. Granted, that's only about $10 million a year, and in this day and age, that's a bargain. Let me know when Bregman gets called up. You are my go-to guy when it comes to all things Houston Astros, Sledgehammer.

Did you put any money on them when they dropped down to 40 to 1 odds.

A little, but not much. They even went to 50-1 for a few days, but I missed out.

Yeah, they're the hottest team in baseball over the last 50 games or so. It's been a fun ride, and given me a little reason to pay attention during the summer months. This is usually my vacation time from sports gambling.

That's what its about, and making a tidy profit if they win it all in November is just the icing on the cake.

Both astros and the mets are now paying +2500 to win the world series. Are there any value left? I got the blue jays 1 month ago at +1800, went down to +1600 now.

4 losses separate the Astros from the best record in the AL now. They are playing some great baseball. They have cut the 11.5 game lead of the Rangers to 2.5.

                            Houston UNDER 87.5 wins.
They would have to play .500 baseball to get to 88 wins. I hope you lose this bet. 35-30 the rest of the way to hit 88 wins.

after that bad start i thought last year was a fluke. they are much better than any team in the AL. doesn't guarantee them getting there but have more than an outside shot to do it.

This team is on absolute fire, Sledgehammer. I like the way it's all coming together, and it looks like they just called up future phenom Alex Bregman. Any idea where he might play? I just read it looks like he'll be playing some third, some leftfield. I like the videos you've produced thus far in this thread, they've been absolutely mesmerizing. Keep up the great work!

Marwin got dinged up yesterday, so we expect him to play either 1st or 3rd tomorrow. If him and the Cuban product they just recently signed turn out to be good hitters, the Astros could have a dangerous lineup.

                                  Springer
                                  Bregman
                                  Altuve
                                  Correa
                                  Valbuena
                                  Gonzalez
                                  Yuriel (Cuban)
                                  Gattis
                                  Gomez or Rasmus

This is the lineup that I think will eventually happen but not tomorrow. I doubt they bat Bregman 2nd....probably 6th or 7th to start with. That said Marwin is most likely out, so they could just have him replace Marwin by batting him 2nd. Will be fun to see. I wonder if the Astros will go after Sale....I hope they don't give up Bregman for him.

Since I'm really only invested in the Astros for one season, I would love to see them go after Sale. I think he would make them the AL favorite right away. He's easily the best American League pitcher. Yeah, he might be a little loony, but who cares?

Imagine if they got him, and put Friers in the bullpen. I think he'd be pretty effective down there.

In the meantime, just looking over the numbers, I'm guessing Bregman could easily start over Carlos Gomez or Colby Rasmus. Those guys suck.

Gomez and Rasmus have been struggling for most of the season. They have this guy named Tucker up and it's only been a couple of games and he is playing great. I could forsee a future without either Gomez or Rasmus.

Preston Tucker, yeah. I think I remember him from last year. He went deep today.

How great is José Altuve? He might be my favorite player in baseball. He and Correa have got to easily be the best double-play combination in all of baseball.

Sledgehammer, you've been in my corner throughout this amazing journey. If they go all the way and win the World Series, I'm going to send you a fruit basket of your choosing. Or I'll just give you 25 betpoints. Whichever you choose.

This next week will tell the tale. There are notrade upgrades on the horizon. They have the Blue Jays and Rangers at home. If they play these games like they did against the Tigers, the season is over.

I'm not surprised to see Opie bumping this. He's been surly ever since his prediction of Nick Foles turning into an All-Pro quarterback went up in flames. It's no wonder he's known as Dopie1988 around here.

Anyway, as for the Astros - it was a pretty brutal week. Suddenly 6 games behind the Rangers.

                                                  Ask Booya. He can confirm.

I worry that the "substantial sums of money" (his words) that he tied up in futures on the Angels and Astros may be causing him great concern about now.

Hey....season's not over, pal! Keep your head up!! They're only 20 games back!!
