The only point in my life after the age of 16 where I wasn't employed was undergrad, but that's because I was making more money than any job could offer.Comment -

2x - 7 = 19
2x = 19 + 7
2x = 26 (divide both sides by 2 to get x)
2x/2 = 26/2
x = 13
....now gtfo and find a better puzzleComment -

#58Are you sure you guys did this correctly?
You have to subtract the max-pay on all winnings from the total amount spent on all bets.
If you place 250 bets at $25.00 per bet, it will cost you $6250.
If you win 55% of the 250 bets, then you lost 45% of them. Therefore, of those 250 bets, you will get paid on either 137 or 138 of them. (250-45% = 137.5) Let's assume he wins 137 of them and loses 113.
At -110, the max pay for each win is $47.73.
137 X $47.73 = $6539.01
$6539.01 - $6250.00 = $289.01
If he won 138 instead of 137, the profit would be $336.74.
At $100 per bet.....
250 x $100.00 = $25,000
137 x $190.91 = $26,154.67
$26,154.67 - $25,000 = $1154.67Comment -

#59Steve, most of the math done by others and myself above was using to win $25 and to win $100 which (right or wrong) is how most people bet and read the original question.
Quick viewing all your math seems right as well, just how different people approach the subject of a $100 bettor.... is he betting 100 to win 91.. or 110 to win 100?Comment -

#60I see! He worded it poorly.
Also, he did not clarify anywhere in the thread if he was talking about winning $25 per bet or spending $25 per bet.Comment -
