He compared Mayweather to an Ace pitcher, saying if you don't get him in the first inning (round) you aren't going to get him.

Is this an actual saying? I played baseball for years and never heard it. In fact, it seems like it would be the opposite, pitchers get tired and the hitters have seen a lot of pitches by the 6th-7th inning.

That might have been the most interesting event that took place on that fight. I wish we'll have heavyweight be stack as before.

The thing is I heard another commentator say something similar to that but what you heard the commentator saying makes no sense. Unless of course there are pitchers who struggle in the first inning but then are lights out as the game goes on (there are some ace pitchers who were like that).

A commentator I heard said you have to start every round aggressive and go for the KO as soon as the bell opens each round against Floyd Mayweather otherwise he will just confuse and frustrate then heck out of you by dodging and weaving and throwing hard crosses here and there.

This has nothing to do with baseball though of course.

I heard some MLB announcers talking about it a day or two ago.

The majority of pitchers become predictable, hitters have seen their stuff, etc.

But their are the select few like Verlander (haven't seen it yet this year) who get stronger as the game goes on, 96 becomes 99 late in the game. So maybe they are referring to those elite few.

depends on their pitching style Halladay and Verlander for example are way easier to get to early. Brad Radke though just average was a horrific first inning pitcher as well

It's about preventing them from getting in a rhythm and getting comfortable. When cliff lee starts every at bat 0-1 you're ******.

Yep, heard them say it about Verlander last week. If you don't get him in the first inning, then good luck.
