many (not all...but many) books...create a hypothetical "game": Away-team Goals vs Home-team Goals (this game is often called "The Grand Salami")....
one of the ways to bet on this "Game" is as on Over/Under bet on the Total
____________
right now, some books have the number on this total bet set at 54...but D2D quoted the play for us at 54.5...
what do we do in situations like this when the number we see is half-point "worse" than quoted?
Here's a solution to that common conundrum...
get into the habit of taking a play for a half-point worse...as long as landing on your worse number is a whole number (so you push instead of winning on the quoted play)...but never take a half-point less than quoted that lands you on the half-point cuz if the play lands on the quoted number...the quoted play pushes and you LOSE...
so if you can get the total in the grand-salami game at 54 at a price you can live with...go for it
if you follow this little rule about taking or not taking a half-point worse than you were looking for...no more anguish--if the "penalty" is a push (when u "would have won)...go for it...but if it's a loss (when you would have pushed)...don't...now it's an automatic no-brain decision
