#107Hi guys -
For most people this will just involve reading about a random stranger committing murder and then suicide. However for others this will stir up some really dark feelings. Especially with a child involved. This isn't funny and I'm shocked that anyone would even attempt to make it so.
Should you find yourself struggling for any reason please contact a legitimate staff member at SBR privately. We can't pay your bills or stop your wife from hating the NBA but we can direct you towards many avenues of assistance and/or just listen. Men are notoriously horrid for dealing with depression which = a much higher rate of suicide than women. Add being a gambler into that, it's much worse. We need to take care of each other and overcome the stigma of asking for help.Comment -

#108Sometimes people just need something, anything, to get them through that minute, hour or day so they don't do something drastic. I lost someone to suicide and it sucks thinking what you could or should have done. Plenty of places that will help someone get through that moment and direct to them to more help for the future.Comment -

#109It's very sad. But it's never too soon for a good joke.
I never jump to conclusions in situations like these because so much surfaces in the coming days... who was cheating on who, who wanted the kid, who was on drugs, motives, witnesses, etc.
Very senseless... but I think the only play is Carolina. KC D will look inside and notice one of their starting brethren gone and it will just bring up the very recent memories of this tragedy.Comment -

#110people are being very insenstive to the needs of the sharp people in this thread...
let's get back to capping this game and stop with the interruptions about touchy feely shit!
so will the chiefs likely activate a Linebacker off their practice squad? you have to realize this will affect the special teams as well.Comment -

#113if I started a thread and told you a guy I know got shot 5 times 3 weeks ago after being setup by a girl would anyone care? i don't have any suicide stories but if someone did shoot their mom and then kill themselves would you all respond?
only reason why you guys care is because he played in the National Football League. Give me a break. Way crazier shit than this happens everyday. We shouldn't feel sorry for him.Cause Sleep is the Cousin of DeathComment -

#120haha no although I actually think Tony's tough love would work for some. The best we can offer is to direct people to organisations that specialise in depression and suicide prevention depending on their country and let someone know we have their back. No one here is pretending to be a lifesaver... my point was I get the guys late at night who are often quite upset. They're tilting, gf hates them, lost their next 2 mths rent money, etc. It's a fine line - or I guess certain cells and neuro stuff - in someone's brain that separates those who can eventually shake off some things and those who can't. Or distinguishes between someone who gets mega upset for an hour about a loss and forgets about it or someone who not only holds on to it but turns it into a manifestation of self loathing. Like I said, we can't pay your bills or make your lady love a certain sport but we can sure as fok help point those who need help in the right direction considering how many organisations there are out there. Often someone - mainly a man - just needs someone else to make the call or at least have their back while they talk. Probably not in the official mod job description but considering how many times we do it a month, I think we're getting quite effective. Get us down to doing it once a year if that and then we know we've won.Comment -

Researchers took his brain for analysis. His brain was very comparable to a brain of a 75-80 year old with severe stages of Alzheimers.

#127UPDATED DEC 1, 2012 1:14 PM ET
KANSAS CITY, MO. (AP)
Police say Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Javon Belcher fatally shot his girlfriend early Saturday, then drove to Arrowhead Stadium and committed suicide in front of his coach and general manager.
Police spokesman Darin Snapp confirmed it was Belcher, a fourth-year player from West Babylon, N.Y., who played college ball at Maine. The woman's name has not yet been released.
Snapp said Belcher shot the woman at a Kansas City residence, then drove to the Chiefs facility. He thanked Chiefs general manager Scott Pioli and Romeo Crennel for all they had done for him, then shot himself.
The Chiefs say Sunday's home game against the Carolina Panthers will go on as scheduled.Comment -

#128During Benoit's autopsy they had him tested for any form of drugs and what they found was relatively insignificant levels to elicit the behavioral responses he displayed.
Researchers took his brain for analysis. His brain was very comparable to a brain of a 75-80 year old with severe stages of Alzheimers.

#135Reports have emerged and sources have confirmed that linebacker Javon Belcher apparently killed himself in front of general manager Scott Pioli and Coach Romeo Crennel.
Belcher died Saturday morning at Arrowhead Stadium, minutes after he apparently had shot and killed his girlfriend in an incident at 54th and Crysler Ave. in Kansas City.
"About (7:50 a.m), we got a call to a residence, in regards to a shooting, on the 5400 block of Crysler Ave.," KCPD spokesman Darin Snapp said via NFL.com. "We arrived and the lady there informed us that her daughter had been shot by her on-again, off-again boyfriend. The young woman was taken to a local hospital, where she died a short time later.
"At about 8:10 a.m., we received a call to the Arrowhead practice facility in regards to a black male armed with a gun in the parking lot, and he matched the description of the shooting suspect," Snapp continued. "Officers arrived, saw a black man with a gun to his head, and some Chiefs employees. As the officer got out of his car, he heard a gunshot. It appeared the individual shot himself. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.Comment -
