Good luck tonight Biz, I'm on the same play as you. Was thinking about tossing a $20 on Montreal by 40 or more at +6500.

Hamilton @ Toronto -3 Over/Under 54.5 - 7 PM Local EST, TSN (Can), ESPN3 (US)
2012 Head to Head: Toronto 3-1
Tor 27 @ Ham 36 (Wk3)
Tor 33 @ Ham 30 (Wk10)
Ham 31 @ Tor 45 (Wk11)
Ham 40 @ Tor 43 (Wk19)
Lots of Hype in Hamilton with CFL Veteran QB Henry Burris to get focused by CFL Hall of Famer QB Kent Austin. The only problem with Hamilton in general, is that it's the same hype every year, and it's never usually the offense that is the problem - Except when it is. Burris led the league with the 6-12 squad in Passing Yards, and Passing TDs (42) also threw a league high 18 INT's in throwing the ball over 600 times.
No Chris Williams for the Cats because of his training camp mess trying out for the NFL will hinder the Cats kick return game. As well Hamilton has 37 players in their first or 2nd CFL season, 20 of them are pure rookies.
Toronto are the Grey Cup champs and have QB Ricky Ray now familiar with the system that it took some time to get adjusted to last year. They also signed Most outstanding player of 2012 Chad Owens to a multi year deal and last year in the 4 games against Hamilton he had a combined 962 all purpose yards, including 1 receiving TD.
The line has moved a point and a half in favor of the Tiger Cats where it started at Toronto -4.5 but is now down to -3. The Total has dropped a point from 55.5 to 54.5. For so many reasons, I like Toronto to win this game at home, getting a good start, and taking advantage of the Hamilton youth movement. Toronto has enough firepower, veteran smarts, and smart coaching to get it done in what I predict will be a shootout.
2x Toronto -3
1x Toronto/Hamilton O54.5

BC Lions @ Calgary Stampeders -3 Over/Under 51.5 - 7 PM Local PST, TSN (Can), ESPN3 (US)
2012 Head to Head: 2-2
BC 34 @ Cal 8 (Wk5)
Cal 22 @ BC 27 (Wk15)
BC 21 @ Cal 41 (Wk18)
Cal 34 @ BC 29 (West Finals)
This will be a very emotional game for the Stampeders in the fact that a major flood just hit the city less than a week ago, but the Stamps home venue was high enough above water to avoid getting flooded, unlike the Calgary Flames venue which was flooded to the 10th row of the arena. Not that this game really needs much more emotion or motivation anyhow, since this rivalry has become one of the better ones in the CFL in the last couple of years with the emergence of young QB’s Drew Tate (Iowa), and Travis Lulay (Montana St) and the fact that before winning the west Final last year, and the game in week 18, that the Lions had won 8 of the previous 9 going back to 2010. The Lions have been the team to beat in the West now for 2 seasons,
Not much has changed for the Lions roster, which ranked 1st in 18 of 25 defensive categories last year, and if anything offensively, the 29 year old BC QB Lulay is just getting better as he gains experience, now his 3rd season as a full time starter. Adding to the roster this year as well is Emmanuel Arceneaux (Alcorn St) who had a 3 year bounce around NFL practice rosters before returning to BC since averaging nearly 1000 yards a season between ’09, and ’10.
The Stampeders don’t see much changing overall with their vets, as they only have 4 rookies on their roster this year, and are 2nd in the league of experienced CFL players including 25 players on their roster who have at least 4 CFL seasons. Home field advantage means a lot to the Stamps as well as they are 32-12-1 since 2008, which owns the 2nd best record in the league behind Montreal.
The line hasn't done a lot since its been posted, and has pretty much been stuck on 3, and 51.5. As much as I think this has the makings of a shootout, it seems I always think that and get burned in this series the past few years. The last 2 have however, gone over. I think the defense will be the key in this one tonight, and I like the under. I will stick with the Stamps as well as I think they will have a little more motivation early on in the long season. BC hasn't always got the wheels going until at least a month in the season, as their last 2 years combined in their first 4 games is just 2-6.
2x Calgary -3
2x Calgary/BC Under 51.5

careful of the calgary pick
i see it going over.
he Stampeders made it to the Grey Cup game a season ago and were expected to win after they surprisingly defeated the Lions in the West Final. That team went 12-6 and they virtually bring back the same defense as they did last season. Offensively, the Lions are stable at QB, they have an outstanding RB in Jon Cornish (1457 yards in 2012) and they also have a decent core of receivers, although Johnny Forzani is on the rack to start the year. The question for the Stamps or uncertainty is on the offensive line, where there are changes and likely an entire year of ups and downs. Calgary should have little trouble scoring. In fact, they had the fewest two-and-outs in the league a year ago. When QB Drew Tate starts and finishes a game, the Stamps are 5-0. However, Calgary’s defense is not close to being in the same class as the Lions and that’s going to bite them in several games this season. The Lions are the class of the West while Calgary, Edmonton and Saskatchewan can all finish either second, third or fourth. Forget revenge, that angle is lame. The real story here is that the Lions are the top team in the West in terms of balance, talent and defense. If the Lions fall behind, they have the ability to come back. If the Lions get out to a nice lead, they aren’t likely to relinquish because their defense, which ranked first in just about every key category a season ago is just as good this season. B.C. allowed an average of just 19 points a game last year and that’s an incredible number in this league. And in the rare case that B.C’s defense is having an off game, the offense is more than capable of putting up some serious numbers. Travis Lulay threw for over 4,200 yards with 27 touchdowns and just 10 interceptions last season and he did it with the best pass protection in the CFL for two years running. The Lions bring back the core of their talent but they did not stand pat in the off-season. They traded or released some of its dead weight and even traded the face of the franchise for years, Geroy Simon, to the Riders in order to improve. Back in the fold is receiver Emmanuel Arceneaux, who spent the last two years in the NFL after he piled up 1,972 yards and 12 touchdowns in ’09 and ’10 for the Lions. Lulay has multiple, outstanding options to throw to. The Lions are loaded and anything being offered on them has to be considered a gift. This one is no exception.

I like the analysis, but that could also mean that both the emotion and the talent could cancel each other out. "Revenge" as it stands isn't always a huge angle, but is an angle... It can mean more also in a bigger league... As the case in an 8 team league, with the emotions high because of the flood, and the home opener to a team that hasn't beaten the Lions in a long time, I can see an ugly "lower" scoring game... 28-21 ish isn't out of the question to me....

Saskatchewan -2 @ Edmonton O/U 49.5
Short write up as I have to leave in a few minutes, I forgot how much time it takes to get a "good" writup, but quite frankly, how much I love doing them.
Nevertheless, I won't bet against the Esks at home, but I also know how young they are, and all the questions around Riley... If any game has a chance at the under this week, it's this one in a mess of sloppy offense and field position. I said the same thing last night however, and we know how that turned out..
