I don't really understand the love that TB seems to be getting.

Morris has taken over the D and gone back to the Tampa 2, but I don't think they have the pass rush necessary to make a huge leap this year. Teams with good O-lines will be able to exploit them. They are also asking a lot out of Freeman and Cadillac if they want to win 6+ games. It doesn't help to play in a tough division too.

Not to mention the only argument people have on their behalf (or at least the one you hear most often) is the one you mention "They just gotta get a big year from Freeman, that's all" - O RLY??? Is there any reason at all to expect that kid to do *anything* in the league this year? I mean he could, but all it'll mean is you got lucky in predicting so. I think he's in for a rough year. Around here he's hailed as a "savior" - or some goddamned thing. Weird.

I'm excited about their young RB Kareem Huggins, this kid is a great talent and a very smart fantasy football pickup if you want a shot at this year's Jamaal Charles. I love their young WRs, especially Mike Williams. They definitely have more talent in this department than they did last year. I like Gerald McCoy to make an immediate impact and help out last year's weak defensive line. Will Freeman suddenly be great? Nope. But from what I saw before his injury this preseason he's looking improved from last year and should definitely put through better numbers when all is said and done. Mostly, I like that their strength of schedule is one of the easier ones in the NFL this year. IMO the floor for this team is 6 wins, the ceiling is around 8. We'll know in 17 weeks I suppose!

From all reports I've seen, Freeman is ready to take the next step. How big that step is remains to be seen. I think given the cast around him, I wouldn't hold my breath for a large improvement in the win column. To me, TB is still a glorified expansion roster.

Regarding the picks this week....

Love the 49ers pick - this is the first game that jumped out at me and the only game I'm playing this week. I wouldn't be surprised to see Seattle get decimated this week against the 49ers, there is just too much talent right now against a Seattle team with way too many questions.

The GB/Philly over - I like the prediction of high points, and I agree with your reasoning about it being geared for passing. But 47.5 is a lot to cover on an over, I don't see much edge here. Too me its a borderline pass.

The Cleveland/TB game - I'm actually leaning the other way if I had to make a pick. I don't have much faith in either offense right now, and I'm tempted to think that the Browns might take the win. Either way I'm passing on this one.

Wow, it's even worse than I imagined it would be haha. Two redzone turnovers in the second half will certainly kill an over. Maybe the Browns can actually do something right and get us some points though, we can only hope.

I'm puzzled by a lot of things that happened in this game, chalk this one up to a bad beat as about 14-17 points were left on the field. Tough way to start the day but I still love the other three we have left on our card so hopefully this turns out to be a 3-1 week. Good luck rest of the day everyone!

Not looking like a good day. Sorry to those who tail if these late games don't come through, looks like it's just one of those weeks. Not a good way to start the year. Just remember, it's a long season, I assure you it'll be a whole lot more good than bad the rest of the way. Kroy, don't worry, we still have faith in your picks. I would be curious to know if you have the stats on hand for your record with spread picks vs o/u picks...for me personally i always find it tougher to cap o/u picks. Looking forward to next week!

i got a push too cuz i bought the .5 to 47 but kroy had 47.5 so he did go 0-3 which sucks. lucky for me i pushed that and i had gb-3 and miami-3 but not as big and i also parlayed a small amount on the opposite picks with gb phily under 48 so i got some back there too. the only thing good here it is week one and theres only one way to go and that is up and lets cash that under 2marrow!
