Bearcats, Panthers road dogs in Sunday Big East doubleheader

The Pitt Panthers come off their first loss in the Big East with a match at Seton Hall while Cincinnati heads to Louisville to meet the Cardinals at Freedom Hall.

Conference championship Sunday may be taking place in the NFL, but cash can be made before the kickoffs with college hoops on the board.

The Big East features two matchups as the Cincinnati Bearcats cross the Kentucky border to meet the Louisville Cardinals while the Seton Hall Pirates host the No. 9 Pittsburgh Panthers.

    Cincinnati Bearcats at Louisville Cardinals (- 8 ½, 143)
    Sunday, 12 p.m. (ET) - Freedom Hall
The Louisville Cardinals are on a three-game slide, and look to bounce back as home chalk against the Cincinnati Bearcats, who have lost two straight on the road.

Thursday night saw Rick Pitino’s troops mount a second half comeback against Seton Hall, but still end up in the loss column, 80-77, as two-point favorites. The combined 157 points fell just a bucket below the 159-point closing ‘total’ for the ‘under’ to cash, and this ended a 4-0 streak for the ‘over’ in Cardinals’ games.
Cincinnati comes into Sunday with a two-game winning streak, but both victories came at home. The Bearcats have been 1-2 SU and ATS on the road since conference play began.

Scoring has suffered away from home for Mick Cronin’s crew as an average of only 63.4 PPG has been notched on the board compared to the team’s overall average of 71.1 PPG. Three-point shots have been hit by the Bearcats at only 19.1 percent in opposing arenas.

Both squads have been overvalued by the sports books with Cincinnati on a 0-5 ATS streak, and Louisville cashing only one ticket among its last four home dates.
Last season saw these Big East foes each win and cover ATS on the floor of the opposition. The ‘under’ is on a 2-0 streak in meetings between these rivals at Freedom Hall.

Pittsburgh Panthers at Seton Hall Pirates (-3, 146 ½)
    Sunday, 2 p.m. (ET) - Prudential Center
The Pittsburgh Panthers had an eight-game winning streak end on Wednesday night with a 74-66 loss at home to Georgetown as one-point chalk. Pittsburgh had been undervalued by sports books during the streak with its bettors profiting from a 6-0-1 ATS run.

Wednesday’s defeat also marked the first time in conference play where the Panthers failed to out-rebound an opponent as the Hoyas matched 31 boards from Pitt.

Hustling for the ball may again be a challenge on Sunday as Jamie Dixon’s roster will face the Big East’s leading rebounder, Herb Pope, when visiting the Garden State.

Pope has averaged 11.2 RPG for the Pirates, and has achieved three double-double’s in seven Big East matchups.

Bobby Gonzalez has his shooters averaging 85.8 PPG at home as one of the top-scoring teams in the nation, and 80 PPG when hosting others from the Big East. The Hall is on a 2-0 SU and ATS streak at Prudential Center with the ‘over’ also making profits there at 4-2-1.

Pitt swept both matchups last season SU and ATS as a double-digit favorite in each tip against the Pirates. Points from both squads have combined to soar ‘over’ the ‘total’ in seven of the last eight battles between them.

I like to take Pitt at +3 and I wanted to take Louisville but that opening number at -8 is pretty steep...

Pitt has gotten the early action for sure, nobodyyukno. Line down to 2 at some books already.

I agree it's tough laying this big number with Louisville. Early bettors have grabbed the points with Cincy.
