Consider taking:
1) Teams which need to have a strong showing or conference title win to get in.
2) Teams with the most senior starters (consider juniors also) who want to win
something before they are done.
3) Teams at home early in the tournament.
Consider avoiding or fading:
1) Teams with injured players who aren't suiting up.
2) Teams which do not need to win the tournament to get in.
3) Teams stacked with sophomores/freshmen.
4) Teams on the road later in the tournament.
Teams which don't need a win to get in the dance are dangerous to take because
remember they are students with scholastic demands. Some of these players would
rather sit out a long break so they can have time to make sure they pass their courses,
and rest physically and mentally before the "real" tournament starts.
This means they don't want to travel and would be happier and less stressed staying on
campus and practicing/studying - while knowing they will be going to the dance anyway.
Coaches are in on it too.
