    GiveMeaBJ NCAA Tournament Plays
Haven't been on here in a while. A lot of old faces and tons of new ones. Some of my best streaks in my gambling career have come while actively posting on this board. Why? I'm not sure. Maybe it is the feeling of accountability with my bet sizing? Maybe it is that I have my thoughts and plays well documented? Ah, who am I kidding no one cares. Follow, tail, ignore, fade, or whatever you like. I love some good banter but I have been making some uncharacteristic mistakes of late and maybe being back here is the solution. Not to mention tearing my ACL and being on disability has really freed up my schedule.

    Kentucky +6 (2x)
John Calipari is doing it again. Another young team seems to be playing their best basketball of the year at the right time. Seriously, have we seen this team play a more complete game pair of games back to back all year? They took punch after punch from Georgia on Saturday but every time a big play was needed they seemed to pull through. In the LSU game on Friday they found themselves in a early hole against an emotional team and just as quick as that hole was dug Kentucky seemed to suck the life out of the Tigers. They crushed the glass against two of the better rebounding teams in the country (LSU 10th, Georgia 45th) which is to be expected as they rank top 5 nationally. But a +31 combined in the board margin shows me just how bad this team wants it. They have flown under the radar all year despite being one of the more talented rosters in the nation. Sure Florida beat them twice already and is undoubtedly the best team from start to finish this year. But look at those two games. On the road Kentucky suffered from a 60% shooting night from Florida and a scorching start that gave them a 20 point first half lead they could never recover from. In the first meeting after trading runs back and forth the Wildcats held the lead for the first 15 minutes of the 2nd half before only managing four points in the last six minutes.

Florida looked very vulnerable in Saturdays game against Tennessee. A game where the offense looked very uninspired and they got beat on the glass by 7 boards. They also struggled mightily to sustain any form of momentum in the first half of Fridays contest against Mizzou. It just feels like this is at worst a very close game for Kentucky. They can win the rebounding battle and if Florida continues to not be able to find someone to take over the game this Kentucky team has too much talent for them to coast by. I think points also should be at a premium making this 6 point number look a little inflated. Think Kentucky scores the upset here playing inspired ball as Cal tries to get his guys going into the NCAA Tournament. Kentucky 61 Florida 56

Most likely will also be playing the money line here. As always best of luck to all.

Ah tell me about it dude. Hurt like a bitch after surgery. Did you have your patella used? I am not sure what is going on with me but I work in the Union doing construction so they said it would be best to leave my patella and use my hamstring. The doctor seemed thrilled and surprised post surgery. I had it done December 30th and was off the crutches 3 week later. I haven't gotten back to sports yet but I swear I am playing football when the season begins in a week or so. It feels completely fine unless I am kneeling or squatting in a catchers position. It feels so good and I have been pushing it harder and harder everyday I am wondering if its because they used my hamstring or this is how its supposed to feel and I am just going to re-tear it. IF you have the time let me know if you remember how your recovery was around the 3 month mark. I have been doing 2 days a week of PT. I have a visit scheduled 3 days before the season so I am going to see what he has to say. Not going to ask him if I should play because he would obviously say no but I am going to ask him questions to get to the point of seeing if I am stable enough to snap a ball and block some 300 pound softies without moving much.

yes they used my hamstring; and now I have bad hamstring issues. I was a different kind of case because I really screwed mine up. around the 3 month mark I was just getting to bending my knee... I really was screwed up bad.
you should be good, id say just do as much of the exercises for rehab at home as you can.

Ah, that is no good to hear. Mine was a complete tear and for the first month I had a popping feeling in my hamstring but that is gone. I am still not at full bend but I am getting close. I wonder what the penetrate happened with yours. Did they ever say what the complication was?

Thanks man will do. Whoever told you walking next day fn lied! That shit was so bad first week had me in tears wen my pills would run out. I couldn't walk for about a week then I could finally start to get around on crutches. Shit sucks and is really just as much a mental injury as physical. Hope you are back to soccer and healthy now.

Whats up bro, long time. I just got a text asking who I liked in that UVA game. I don't think there is much value but I would also side with UVA. Hope you have been having profitable season.

                                  Albany -2 (1x)
Big contrast in styles here with Albany a team that would like to take the air out of the ball, be patient, and grind out possessions. MSM on the other hand ranks 33rd in tempo and wants to push and launch 3's. So which style wins out? Well, MSM has been doomed all year giving up easy buckets after their press gets beaten and they could pay for that big time against a team like Albany who will try to make them earn every bucket. Albany also is an experienced bunch and it has shown ranking 6th in the nation in free throw defense. This team simply doesn't like to give up free points. I really think Albany will be a matchup nightmare for MSM as long as they get back on defense and don't give up freebies. They own the best win between the two teams (Vermont) and this line has already nudged up so I am going to take it before it gets higher.

                                      Xavier -1.5 (2x)
NC State should be happy to be here. The one genuine shock the committee served up as SMU, a team ranked in the top 25 for a good portion of the late season, was snubbed in favor of TJ Warren and company. But, Xavier seems to be underrated by the committee as well. Two huge wins over Creighton and Cincy and a team that can score in the paint at will shouldn't be relegated to the first four. Xavier coach Chris Mack owns a 4-3 tourny record. Xavier hits the glass hard and as mentioned likes to win their games from the inside-out. That could provide trouble for a team who needs to be thrown on the back of one player who gets most of his baskets in the paint. If he is limited to under his obnoxious 24 points per game this game won't be close. Xavier has too many ways to score and a very balanced attack. Xavier only seems to lose when they are being outrun on the floor and allowing over 70 points. NC State has had trouble getting to 70 against any quality opponent not named UNC and even in those games they scored a flat 70 and had 71 before going to OT in the 2nd meeting. Like Xavier here.

                                          Tennessee -1.5 (2x)
I was a big Iowa backer for the majority of the year but this team is falling apart at the wrong time. They look drastically different. White is playing much softer and all the shots that seemed to be falling for guys like White and Gissell early in the season just aren't going down anymore. It's never good to crawl into the tournament and Iowa has done just that going 1-6 and playing little to no defense down the stretch. The Hawkeyes biggest strength is on the glass, a trait that Tennessee shares. While Iowa relies more on a team rebounding philosophy Tenn will march out two studs with Stokes and Maymon. Tennessee has slowed run and gun opponents several times this season and to me appear one of the more undervalued teams in the tournament. Think the big boys beat up Iowa down low and cancel out the depth of Iowa by slowing the pace and get enough scoring from their five different options to keep plugging away and build on their 6-1 close to the season.

                                              Duke -13.5 (1x)
After beating last years NCAA Tournament darlings FGCU for the A-Sun title Mercer came into this tournament looking for a nice match. Duke is not it. Duke has been beating top teams in the country since the beginning of the year and surely after recent upsets and close calls Coach K will make sure his boys don't take a balanced Mercer team lightly. Mercer was a team me and a lot of other people had pegged as a potential upset but this just doesn't look like the game. Who is going to guard Jabari Parker? Nobody in the ACC could do it. Duke shoots the ball too well and can apply the clamps on defense when focused. After Duke dropped Sundays ACC Championship to UVA it is time to refocus and go make a statement moving into the round of 32. This spread should have been closer to 18 and will only go up from here. Duke rolls by 20+.

                                                  Texas -2 (2x)
Neither team has closed the season strong but Texas has had to make a living in the mine-field that was the Big 12 this year. If you look at their worst losses: BYU, @KSU, @OK St, @TTU...well the only bad one is @TTU and you can give them a break on that one. They own wins @UNC, vs ISU, vs KSU, @Baylor, and vs OK St. ASU beat the Pac 12 four tournament teams but all at home. They played a buttercup non-conference schedule and bad losses vs Wash, @Utah, and @Oregon St. The edge here for ASU comes from behind the 3pt line where they have shot 28th best in the country while Texas remains incompetent behind the line. The silver lining for Texas is they know how terrible they shoot the ball and don't attempt many long-balls. The numbers suggest Texas can make up for that point differential at the free throw line, which they get to at a higher rate than ASU and on the offensive glass where they rank 7th in the nation crashing the offensive glass. ASU is 125th in overall rebounding to Texas 4th, barring a red hot shooting night from ASU who seem to play uninspired after falling behind Texas should get the job done.
