C A.J. Ogilvy still isn’t 100 percent recovered from a foot injury and has also recently suffered from illness, and it’s obvious that it’s affecting the sophomore’s ability to finish near the basket. Despite being taller than every Alabama player on the floor, Ogilvy hit just five of 12 shots from 2-point range Thursday. But he helped by hitting a pair of big 3-pointers from the right side in the first half as Alabama threatened to run away, and he pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds.
George Drake was supposed to be part of a new-look starting lineup for the Commodores—a three-guard lineup—on Thursday. Instead, the Calera, Ala., native suffered a hip pointer in practice Wednesday and did not play.
G/F Charles Hinkle was in the infirmary Wednesday night with an illness that caused him to miss every practice this week and even the team’s pregame shootaround Thursday. Coach Kevin Stallings said he hadn’t even seen Hinkle since Vanderbilt’s road win at Auburn on Saturday. However, the redshirt freshman hit perhaps the biggest shot of the game—a 3-pointer from the left corner with 15:43 left in the second half—to pull the Commodores to within a point, the closest they’d been since a 14-all tie with 12:50 left in the first half. Shortly after hitting the shot, Hinkle doubled over in discomfort as teammates congratulated him during an ensuing timeout.
vandy has its fair share of problems especially since thy forgotten their winning strategy of the beginniing of the season which is stingy defence.( they led the league in field goal percentage allowed). also have been very poor shooting free throws of late.
i am leaning on miss for this one riding the wave of great play from the rebels
