After I capped this game thoroughly I figured that Lakers would run away with it. Should have bet 100 units LOL

                          Wed Jan 12

Only straight up games today. I looked over the plays for the last two days and I am thinking too much.

Atlanta -180 ML 2.7 to win 1.5 units
                          Charlotte +115 ML 1 to win 1.15
                          Detroit +115 ML 2.5 to win 2.87
San Antonio -145 ML 3.62 to win 2.5
New Orleans +125 ML 1.5 to win 1.87
                          Utah -200 ML 2 to win 1
                          Phoenix 3.5 -300 ML 10.5 to win 3.5
                          Miami 3.5 -270 ML 9.4 to win 3.5

No lines on these, for a dog risk the amount shown, for a fav risk enough to win the amount shown. I may not have time to update these today, I will use the opening line when calculating win/loss record if I don't update them.

                                  Figuring out quarters patterns

I am wondering if there is some psychology to how certain teams play Quarters.

One idea that I have is that some teams win a Quarter if they have lost the previous Quarter.

Another idea, certain teams win the 3rd Quarter is they are behind at the half.

Another idea, certain teams win the 4th Quarter if they are behind at the end of the 3rd Quarter.

Now, figuring this out is a lot of work. www.sportsdatabase.com helps but there is a lot of queries to run and then using a spreadsheet to calculate all these angles. I'll give you an example, the Knicks are 15-4 in the 2nd Quarter IF they lost the 1st Quarter. If the Knicks won the first Quarter then they are 5-9 in the 2nd Quarter. Their 1st Quarter play is 14-20.

There is no other Quarter angle for the Knicks that gives us an edge.

Does anyone want to help me work on this? Say you take the teams West of the Mississippi river and I take the teams East?

I feel that the problem with this is, the lines are adjusted accordingly, thus rendering the numbers somewhat meaningless. Get a haircut

There is no other Quarter angle for the Knicks that gives us an edge.

Does anyone want to help me work on this? Say you take the teams West of the Mississippi river and I take the teams East?
I'm willing to help with the West. It's going to take some time as I have a job.

Thanks, post which teams you are working on a few at a time and maybe someone else will offer to help on some of the others.

OK. I'll start with the Pacific Division. If you get a chance post the queries you are running, so our data is cut the same way. I'll get started tonight about 2:00 AM EST.

This is the query I use:
                                                team, o:team, quarter scores, o:quarter scores, date@team=Knicks and date>20101001

I then paste the results into excel, you have to do some formatting to get the scores into separate columns and get rid of some unwanted characters but I just use the Edit-->Replace function for that.

it takes about 30 minutes per team. Ouch.

If the line moves much on the Nuggets and THunder in the right direction we are going to add to these plays.

If we can find some places that most people can find I will start placing and tracking these plays. I think the Q and H plays are much stronger than games.
