Stick with Euroball. Less crooks and fixers, cept matches with a Turkish team playing, stay far away from those.

12.14.09 (12:00pm ET): [Eurocup]: Hemofarm vs. Le Mans OVER 154 (-115)
One of the few lines not based closely on the first meeting. It ended 92-90 with Le Mans winning at home. The big difference for Le Mans versus their first two games when they scored 74 in each was they finished strong in the 4th quarter. In their first two EC games, they scored just 24 points combined in the fourth quarters. Against Hemofarm, they tallied 22 in the final frame. Both teams shot a boatload of threes, 57, with 59 two point attempts. Hemofarm has been solid scoring after a slow start to the EC against defensive-minded Valencia where they got just 68. Since then, 82 & 90. If these two keep the tempo anywhere close to the last meeting and stay strong throughout the game, the OVER should have an excellent shot. Le Mans should be the key here as they must show they can score on the road. In domestic play, they have hit 80+ in their last four straight. If they get close to that, I think this is a done deal.

Solid late run in the Eurocup game got the OVER done in time as the game is finishing 88-76 Hemofarm.

12.14.09: [Eurocup] ARIS vs. BC Siauliai OVER 159.5 (-115)
Another line not moved by the result of the first encounter between the two teams. Last match played to 183 points. Siauliai matches in the EC have played to totals of 165, 186 & 183 with the Lithuanians averaging just over 86 ppg. Their lone game under 90 was on the road in their EC opener when they scored 76. They are allowing just over 90 ppg. Their Greek opposition should find their home floor good to go for another high point output as ARIS scored 73 in their opener on the road, jumped to 81 at home in their 2nd EC game and then 91 in the one point road loss to Siauliai. They have yielded totals of 68, 77 & 92. If form holds close to the first match-up, expect a lot of threes (60) and a lot of shots in general as they combined for 124 shot attempts + 44 free throw attempts. ARIS has been pretty solid scoring the ball domestically on their home court with 78 points or better in 3 of 4, while Siauliai has scored 80 or better in 6 of their 8 league games and topped 100 points 4 times. As with the first game of the day that I went with, I think the road team - here that is BC Siauliai - is the key as they must continue to show they can dictate their fast paced run & gun style. Make and take a lot of threes, go points!

Lame 3rd quarter killed this last one. Only 29 points. Probably gonna wind up being about 10 points shy.

12.15.09: [NBA] Knicks vs. Bobcats OVER 196 (-110)
Bobcats get back home where they have actually played pretty decently on offense of late. They've topped 100 points in 4 of their last 6 on their home court and should love being there after a short road trip to Texas. The Knicks have been in a solid scoring mood as well with 7 of their last 8 showings hitting better than 100. Couple in that NY hasn't given up less than 96 in 6 straight on the road and has yielded over 100 in 9 out of 11 on the road and we could see the OVER slip by tonight.

I could spout out a lot about how SAC is 8-2 ATS in their last 10 and POR is 3-7 ATS. Or how SAC is 6-2 ATS in the last 8 head-2-heads, but I suck at life the last couple days. So let's just say here's a free win for Portland backers by me taking this.

Well at least it was a push, but how much kawk do you suck to blow an 11 point half time lead and suck the 2nd half by 18 points? Thanks Sacto.

12.16.09 (11:30am ET): [Finland Korisliiga] Kouvot vs. FoKoPo OVER 157.5 (-115)
The first time they met this season, the total landed at 184 points with Kouvot crushing FoKoPo on the road. Since then, Kouvot is averaging 84 ppg in their last 11, allowing 75.4 ppg against. FoKoPo is hitting for 77.6 ppg, while allowing a whopping 91.3 ppg against. In the last 5 at home, Kouvot is putting up 83.6 ppg while giving up 75.4. FoKoPo is netting 85.6 ppg in their last 5 on the road, while giving up 90.6. Kouvot has been a little uneven in their last couple, but this one might bring out their best. It looks like they should be good for around 85 or better and with FoKoPo putting up plenty of points, this should top 160 if not more if all goes according to plan.

12.16.09 (12:30pm ET): [Euroleague] Cibona vs. Fenerbache Ulker UNDER 141.5 (-115)
Cibona's EL matches have genrally played below this number with it going in that direction in 5 of 7. Their last 2 went over, but that was against more up-tempo squads in Siena & Barcelona that can score easily. Cibona has yet to top 68 points in any of their EL matches. Fenerbache will be without two key cogs in its attack today which could lead to another bad offensive effort. Last time out, they scored just 61 points to follow up on a 55 point effort the time before. PG Lynn Greer is questionable with an ankle sprain for the Turkish side & C Omer Asik is out. Greer being the leading scorer for the Turks in this league & Asik the top rebounder. These teams played to 129 points the first time they met at Fenerbache. Both teams shot okay in that one, the pace was just slower and we'll see if that works here as well with Cibona likely to try and clamp down on the Turks, needing a win to try and stave off elimination in the competition. I would say Cibona -4.5 on the handicap here, but this game with a lot on the line for both could be real close and I'd rather pin my hopes on lower scoring.

Side note: The Finnish league pick is sucking the cockola at the half with just 67 points. One team showed up, Kouvot they have a 45-22 lead. FoKoPo has just 20 shots and 14 of them were threes, they hit 2/14. Yikes. Won't say it's quite over, but it will take a gigantic effort and some of those F-ing threes need to fall QUICKLY.

Well the Finnish pick lost, 97-55 final for 152 points. If the one team hadn't showed up with a 5 point second quarter, sucker could have cashed with even a dull period of 11 points! They tried their damnedest with a 48 point 4th, but not to be.

Not my week. Cibona & Fenerbache decided on no defense in the 3rd quarter and that's pretty much all she wrote. 68 points at the hald and the mother f-ckers almost put up 50 in the 3rd. Fade me please.

Unicaja meanwhile can get through to the next round with a win over the Turkish-side today. The first time these two met was a scorefest, 93-88 in favor of the Spaniards (Unicaja) at home. Efes comes in off their best offensive showing of the EL, but did lose 93-92 to Partizan. At home, the Turks have averaged 77 ppg in EL play - playing mainly against teams that won't push the tempo like Unicaja. In all, they average 81 ppg and yield 80 ppg in the EL. Unicaja is netting 75 ppg on the road, 5 below their overall EL average of 80. In domestic form though, Unicaja have been scoring steadily even without injured C Robert Archibald. That could make it more of a guard-oriented.slashing attack. Give it a whirl.

A little hairy until the end, but 156 points does the trick. Mad that I passed on Real Madrid +7 today as they spanked the Greeks outright today. Oh well, take the win sucka! Think we have German & Finnish games on Friday, will have to look around.

12.18.09: [German Bundesliga] Ratiopharm vs. Artland Dragons UNDER 161 (-115)
Both teams are capable of putting up big numbers. Ratiopharm averages 77.7 ppg on the season and Artland, 79.5. At home, ratiopharm pumps in 78.5 and gives up a horrid 94.4 ppg. Artland puts in 75.7 ppg on the road, yielding 73 ppg on the road compared to 75.3 overall. So with ratiopharm's horrible home defense, why go under? ratiopharm runs hot and cold at home. Look at that last 4 - 97,75,101 & 60. Is Artland good enough to keep them lower? 85 is the most points they have given up on the road and they've only topped 80 twice themselves. 5 of their 6 road games have pushed or beaten this number on the UNDER side. So, I'm taking a shot at the under here. It's either a squeaker or they blast this out of the water and play into the 180s.

CSKA Moscow has been moving and grooving in the Euroleague of late, advancing to the Final 16. They'll look to carry that form into their domestic league play now against last place Spartak. Spartak is yielding over 77 ppg this season. On the road, Spartak hasgiven up 78 or more in 3 of 4. CSKA is usually dominant at home, so they can be expected to potentially win big here. The only question is do they play loose once they get a comfortable lead? I'm gonna side with yes as they should have a shot to ring up a total in the high 70s or into the 80s, leaving Spartak to need 65-70. Spartak has hit for 70 or more in 5 of 7, so it is possible.

A big number here, but Goettingen is one of the better offensive outfits in the league and that makes it possible. Goettingen averages 85 ppg through 12 games in Bundesliga play. On the road, they have been solid with 83.5 ppg. They have tallied 80 or more in 4 of their 6 games away from home. In all, they have topped 80 in 8 of 12 and have only scored less than 78 on one occassion this season. Defensively, they give up 75 ppg, but that is amped up to around 80 ppg on the road. NY Phantoms are averaging 77 ppg, up a point at home to around 78 ppg. Their defense has been pretty solid, allowing 75.7 ppg in all 12 games and 74 at home. They have given up at least 75 in 5 straight and over 80 in their last 2. On the road, Goettingen games have hit better than this total 4 out of 6. If they continue their offensive assault and get close to their season averages of 83-85, that leaves NY Phantoms to need 73-75 or better. At home, I believe they can get that or potentially more against a loose road defense. Starts at 1pm ET, about 10 minutes from now.

Used to be a better site, but now they are a pay site if you want to look at in-depth stats - still, you can see the scores from all different leagues and have free access to the box scores, it's about the only place I have found worth a damn for European & Latin hoops too. Euroleague & Eurocup both have their own websites with free access to all the stats. I don't know about killing it, doing good to start with Euro hoops, I've done better on NBA & College Hoops since I stopped posting picks and just concentrated on making my plays and cutting down on the volume ... always a good thing to do!
