12.8.09: [Eurocup] BC Triumph vs. Valencia OVER 147 (-115)
The Russians, BC Triumph, are averaging 80 ppg through 2 Eurocup matches, while allowing 78. Their shooting has been solid and they do like to hoist up the three ball, 50 attempts in two matches. The Spanish side is putting up 74.5 ppg through their two EC matches. Their defense is allowing just over 70 ppg. Valencia's game is played inside the arc as they are just 9 of 39 from distance so far in this competition. They have a huge interior and their guards love to drive to the hoop. That could mean extra FTs. In domestic play, Valencia has been a pretty consistent scoring club & Triumph seems locked in on offense so far ... this one will be a nail biter for the lead of their group in the Eurocup, so a decent shot that fouls and extra possessions help push it over.

12.8.09: [Eurocup] Turk Telecom vs. Bilbao Basket OVER 154 (-120)
Two of the better offensive units through the first two games in the Eurocup set up against each other here. Turk Telecom comes in with an 87 ppg average, giving up 85 & 67 points in their first two games. Bilbao has pounded its opponents for an 82.5 ppg average thus far. They played the same two opponents as Turk Telecom, allowing just 62 & 65 points. Bilbao goes 10 deep and will run out in waves against Turk Telecom, while the Turkish side will rely on its 3 point attack to be the key again. They usually take as many 3s as 2s if not more. In their Spanish league, Bilbao has shown a propensity to play to their opponents tempo on the road. At home, Telekom is averaging over 88 ppg in their domestic league - so I think as long as they come with their shooting shoes on, we should see plenty of points in this one with both teams capable of 75-80 or much more.

Split these two with the Triumph/Valencia game falling under. Telecom/Bilbao gets over.

            12.8.09: Timberwolves Team Total OVER 100 (-110)
Minnesota visits Toronto tonight where the Raptors have given up 100 or more points in 12 of their last 13 games. Toronto has given up 110 ppg in their last 5 and gives up about 105 ppg at home, including 5 straight 100 point games against at home. Minnesota comes in off their 2nd best offensive output of the season at 108 points against Utah and they have averaged almost 99 ppg in their last 5. 3 of their 5 100 point plus performances have come in their last 6 overall. So long as Minnesota gets some early confidence with made shots, they should put up points on the Raptors. Only 6 teams in 23 tries against Toronto have failed to top 100 points

              12.8.09: [2nd Half] Kings/Hornets UNDER 103 (-110)
Might be one of those nights for me, so fading might be a good idea. Uneven quarters by both offensively/defensively with 29-19 scorelines flipped in the 1st and 2nd quarters. Lots of jumpers with both teams hitting over 50%. 22 FT attempts, but only 13 makes. Little bit hesitant because it's a tie and may stay close or have OT implications if neither team budges, but I think the Hornets amp up the defense a little and hopefully that restrains the total a bit.

                12.8.09: [2nd Half] Suns/Mavericks UNDER 109 (-105)
Suns shooting almost 45% and got to the line 15 times. Mavs are not shooting well, just 38% - but 10/10 from the line. 50-49 Suns lead. Both have played some better defense in their last 5. Dallas may improve their shooting, but there may be less FTs to even that out. Ride the wave!

12.9.09 (11:30am ET): [Finland Korisliiga] FoKoPo vs. Honka Espoo OVER 158 (-110)
Quick side note, this is my secondary play (not as strong) because my book took down the total for KTP & Kataja which was 164.5 last night I believe. If it goes back on the board, that is my favorite play today in the landy of plenty in Finland. These two (FoKoPo/Honka) played to a 168 pt. total earlier in the season. FoKoPo's last 4 at home have eclipsed this total with FoKoPo yielding an average of 95.5 ppg in that stretch. In their last game on the road, they tallied 96 against Kataja but gave up a whopping 116. Honka averages almost 85 ppg on the road and has topped the 90 mark in 5 of 9 away from home. Honka has also allowed at least 70 points in 8 of their 9 road games.

Crappy 2nd quarter did in the Finnish bet today. Had three 40+ point quarters and one 21 point quarter to finish at 153. Easily would have made it over if the 2nd quarter got just an average total of about 30. Oh well, can't get 'em all.

                          12.9.09: [2nd Half] Bulls/Hawks UNDER 97.5 (-110)
Lots of FTs masked a poor shooting half from both squads with the Bulls hitting at 37% and Hawks at 43%. 25 of the 98 1st half points came from made FTs. Means lots of jumpers are being missed, if there is a little less aggressive play - less FTs and an under. Bulls on the 2nd half of a back-2-back could throw the towel in if they fall further behind. 56-42 Hawks.

                            Club,

I think it is a little easier to find softer lines for the Euroleagues for basketball because I don't think they get a lot of action. I noticed a real lack of invention on some of them - like the league in Finland, a lot of today's lines appeared to be based almost solely on the first meeting between the two teams if they had already met. This is my first year trying out foreign hoops, so I would consider myself a novice at this point. Like with soccer, I crunch the stats and if the lines look way off, I consider it a good play. Also like these leagues because during the week they usually give you an opportunity for day action in the U.S.

                              12.9.09: [2nd Half]: Kings/Spurs OVER 100 (+105)
Kings on the 2nd half of a back to back and are not playing defense as San Antonio is lighting it up for 61% from the floor. Kings shooting around 50%. Tired Kings' legs could lead to more easy buckets for the Spurs who lead 61-54. Need more FTs to help, just 16 attempts.

Yes, BetPhoenix for the Euro betting. Euroleague & Eurocup have their own websites as do most of the foreign leagues, including scoreboards. Livescore.com usually has more scores than Flashscore as far as hoops if you can't find the foreign sites. I can probably make a list of some of the ones I am regularly betting in this thread at some point.

Yay Spurs & Kings, that helped.

[Euroleague/12:45pm ET] Zalgiris vs. Montepaschi Siena OVER 147 (-115)
Siena won the first meeting in the EL between these two, 84-64. Siena has been one of the most consistent scoring outfits in the EL with 5 of their 6 games hitting for more than 80 points offensively. They travel well with 85, 82 & 87 point outputs in their 3 road games. Siena can also guarantee a spot in the Final 16 of the Euroleague with a win in Lithuania, so expect them to put their best foot forward. Zalgiris isn't a great scoring club, but they have averaged 73 ppg at home in the EL. They have also yielded 73 ppg in all through 6 games. That may not sound like much, but they have given up 77 to Regal Barcelona, 84 to Siena & 84 to Fenerbache - the three best teams they have played. Zalgiris will likely want to show well at home, so I'd expect they could potentially get 70+ here. If they get that, Siena seems a likely shot to get their 80 or more once again. Big keys are Siena continuing their three point barrage & Zalgiris needs to make FTs. They have been a bit suspect from the line. This one will likely be a squeaker as far as getting past this line if it does make it.

[Euroleague/2:00pm ET] Olympiakos vs. Unicaja OVER 160.5 (-115)
The Greeks get Josh Childress back for this one and that is nothing but good news for more points. Olympiakos has tallied 296 in 3 home games in the EL and this should be a big payback game as Unicaja saddled them with a harsh 86-68 loss on the road. Unicaja for their part have had little trouble scoring when not playing Partizan which held them to their two lowest totals. Outside of those games, the Spanish side has put up 86 or more in their other four games. With all of Olympiakos' home games hitting better than this in the EL and the battle for the top spot in their Group on the line, this should feature plenty of points.

I also think the Maccabi game has an excellent shot to hit the over against Caja Laboral, but the line drifted a little higher this morning to 156 from 154.5, so I decided on Olympiakos instead.

Degenerates must be out today, lines changing all over the place. Now locked in on Zalgiris/Siena OVER 147. 2.5 point drop from 149.5. Olympiakos is now at 162. Have not placed it yet and will wait it out before making a final decision there if the line stays up. Watching Maccabi too, now up to 157.5!

Well I stuck with just the 1st pick because the Olympiakos line stayed at 162 at -120 which I did not like. 2 of those 3 hit OVER though, so won an "off-the-table" play too.

Nets got 51 despite shooting under 40% from the field. 60 for Indy who shot a hot 52%. Neither relying too much on long range shooting with Lopez for NJ and Hibbert for IND doing damage inside. Reasonable FT attempts with 23. Both teams have been somewhat sheisty on defense of late, each allowing over 100+ ppg and 46% or better from the field. So long as the aggressiveness remains with extra points from FTs, this should have a shot.

Plenty of possessions here with 24 FTs. Dallas shot well at almost 49%. Miami was poor at 42%. As long as both teams continue to be aggressive and get to the line, this one seems a good shot. Dallas leads 53-46.

Hot shooting for both at plus 50% each. Hardly any FTs though and that will need to change if the OVER hits. Just 6 attempts. Figuring the Lakers get aggressive here to try and put some room between themselves and Minnesota. Could be some dropoff for T-Wolves especially shooting, but if FTs help out - definite shot to hit it.

A lot of FTs in the first half, 28 with 23 makes - masked a so-so shooting performance from both. Chicago shooting 42% and Boston, 40%. Not a lot of long range bombers working in this one, so the aggressive nature with the FTs seems to be something that should stick around. Bulls are the key on the back end of a back-2-back, they need to pick it up.

Good pace. Lots of FTs. Lots of work done inside by Jefferson for MIN and Thompson for SAC. Minny may fade on the back half of a back-2-back, but defense doesn't appear to be a factor for either team as both are shooting 50% or better. Just need the FTs to keep coming.

Memphis puts up 102 ppg on the road while giving up 112. Miami has topped 100 points in 3 of their last 6. 5 straight for the Heat have topped today's total. Memphis has hit UNDERs in 4 of their last 6, but the OVER leads in their road games with 8 of 12 cashing.

Pacers need to get to the FT line more, 4 attempts won't hack it. Magic did well with 16 attempts. Seeing as the Orlando bench almost outscored their starters (24 pts. to 27), Orlando should continue to pump in points.

Solid shooting. Solid tempo. 128 first half points. Flynn & Deron Wiliams killing it. If the big boys Boozer & Jefferson can get more involved, that could help the foul situation and get some easier shots. Going for it here.
