Disappointed in the play of the Celtics in Game 5. imo the coach was mainly to blame. They came out flat. Udoka is an average coach, not the worst or best. What he does is adjustments. The adjustment for Game 5 was all about Steph Curry and making sure he didn't go off. So they stuck Jason Tatum on Curry, and it affected Tatum's game. The focus was so much on defense, the offense looked like garbage.
But...the fact remains the Celtics are the more talented team. Not the better coach, not the best player, but there's no question they have better players overall. Again there was a coaching problem-the Celtics coach wouldn't even put Theis in the game, and wouldn't play Pritchard for more than 5 minutes. He played Brown for 44 minutes and Brown was off. He played White for 21 minutes and White looked like he didn't belong on the court-maybe his worst playoff game ever-kid was lost.
So now we have to deal with the current situation...
The coach is going to make adjustments. Again. In reaction to Game 5. We can guess what that will be.
Series-wise, Celtics have the advantage here:
-Taller, bigger, stronger
-Better depth (though you would not have thought that last game)
-Better overall talent
-Younger
-Klay is not the Klay of old. Decent player yes, dominating player no. Achilles and knee surgery, not quite the same.
-Rig-wise the NBA would enjoy a game 7. Because the Dubs are not a young team, I don't see NBA fixing the series for the Dubs. Though Tony Brothers hasn't helped. Game 7 roll of the dice. Usually the home team wins (Dubs) but, you never know for sure.
The Celtics are the better team, and have the ability to physically beat up the Dubs. They have not in the last 2 games. That has to be coaching, and I expect some kind of adjustment.
Dubs have the advantage:
-Coaching
-Best player (no question)
-Maturity/experience
-Quicker
-Smarter (move the ball around better)
The series line is +300, meaning you get 3x the value of what you put in. Small loss, decent again. Worth a shot. Of course I'd rather have the Dubs at +300 in a second-but +300 for the Celtics to win it all? Come on.
Regardless, the end of the NBA season.
