NBA MVP Race Is Going To Be Wild
I think we could have some of the best individual regular seasons in a long time. MVP race should be a wild ride all year. Westbrook, Harden, Lillard and Anthony Davis are all lone stars on their teams, all should have huge years. Westbrook will have a shot at averaging a triple double. Harden could average 30 and 10 (assists). Lillard is going to score a lot. Anthony Davis could lead the NBA in scoring and rebounding.

Who do you think takes home MVP at the end of the year? I don't really consier anyone on GS or Cleveland as legit MVP contenders, too many split votes. Kawhi could surface as a candidate, as most of that Spurs talent has taken a step back.

Taken at the literal meaning of the award there's no one other Lebron James who should even be considered. He could go to ANY team in the east and they would be in and possibly win the finals. CLE without him is a 30 win team. GSW without Curry are still a really good team, SAS without Leonard are still 50 win team. No single player is more "valuable" to their team than Lebron.

The award has almost turned into a popularity contest over the last 10 years. And the voters feel as though they must pass the award around to all of the top players in the league.

I don't think it's just the last 10 years. Who was more "valuable" than MJ?

While he was easily the best to ever play, the Bulls only won a handful fewer games without him after his 1st retirement. I think they went from the upper 50s to the low 50s. They were still are good team with Pippen, Kukoc and the other guys. I think MJ is better than Lebron just because of his never die, never quit mindset and obvious skill set. But statistically Lebron is more valuable to his teams. And, for the record, I can't believe I'm defending Lebron. I've never really been much of a fan. I think I started to come around last year after he brought a championship back to CLE and fought back from 3-1.

I think Kawhi will end up being MVP. He is truly a two way player in the mold of Lebron, Kobe and MJ. None of the other candidates will have his defensive resume.

Yes, for one season the Bulls won 55 games without MJ. They didn't win the Finals nor did they get there. You'd be hard pressed to find a guy more valuable than MJ from 1991-1998 save the season and a half he missed.

Well done, i agree with this post. Last few years they have basically went with the star on the team that wins the most games. He is not even the best player on his own team but watch its kevin durant this year

Well we all know MVP doesn't actually mean what it stands for. So LeBron won't win it. And there is no doubt LeBron is going to coast during regular season, no reason to run him into the ground before playoffs.

I think Westbrook probably wins it just because he will be on a playoff team and will be hard to ignore those kind of numbers. Anthony Davis will put up huge numbers but doubt they give it to someone on a bad team. While I love Kawhi, the people who vote will look at stats and his great defense doesn't exactly show up in the box scores.
