Not to mention the danger considering it was on unmarked slopes. Nothing more dangerous in skiing than that I would think

    Strange how things go, sometimes...
Many didn't want Michael to come out of retirement and return to racing, feeling he was pressing his luck and racing on borrowed time.
    And then this happens...

It has been on the front page of the newspapers every day since it happened down here. And again today.

    http://www.smh.com.au/

I like seeing so much interest in F1 at least, even if for a bad reason. Surprised there is so much media interest too I guess.

Improved just enough for them to do a 2nd brain surgery yesterday on him. Decent news. Trust me they won't do that without him improving a decent bit but even if he still in is medical induced coma ( normal for head trauma btw) and a very long way to not die still or be brain dead.

Even a Small nugget of good news for Michael right now is good news

Was just frustrating the way they were treating it. Media always very blood thirsty.

Even F1 media was full on. I think they are making the most of a big story during the quietest period of the f1 year.

He could still end up perfectly fine as well. Just a waiting game now.

Chances of him being fine are slim my experience in these cases.

But it not like I know his case personally of course. Lol. Still could happen but would be great

Hope he he is as good as new. If they bring him out of coma (medically induced) that will be the best sign of a good recovery.

Pretty sure 1st surgery they did burr holes and that's just to take some skull out so brain can swell with some room. Haven't read what they did today in 2nd surgery yet have u opti or mati?

Thanks mati. That's nothing too major so that's good news just some removal of clotting blood, if u can say that about any brain surgery.

Keep us updated mati and opti, I don't get the details here like what surgery was for. Thank u

for those that had not seen latest news:

    • Michael Schumacher leaving coma: Michael Schumacher's doctors have started trying to wake up the former Formula Champion from the medically induced coma he's been in since a skiing accident last month, his manager said Thursday. The 45-year-old Schumacher suffered serious head injuries when he fell and hit the right side of his head on a rock in the French resort of Meribel on Dec. 29. The seven-time F1 champion has been in an induced coma in Grenoble University Hospital since then, although his condition stabilized following surgery after initially being described as critical. "Michael's sedation is being reduced in order to allow the start of the waking up process which may take a long time," Schumacher's manager, Sabine Kehm, said in a statement. Schumacher was being kept artificially sedated and his body temperature was lowered to between 34 and 35 degrees Celsius (93.2 and 95 degrees Fahrenheit), to reduce swelling in the brain, reduce its energy consumption and allow it to rest. Kehm said she was only providing an update now on Schumacher's condition to clarify media leaks, and that no further details would be provided.(ESPN)(1-31-2014)

Yeah I'm shocked he's alive. I just hope he's not mentally a basic veggie and can't help himself. I would rather pass away than live that way. But that's just an individual choice or opinion. I hope he comes out basically with most motor skills intacted. Amazing he's alive still

Michael Schumacher's family takes long-awaited public step

Formula One legend Michael Schumacher will be the subject of a documentary about his life, the film's executive producers say.
German filmmakers Michael Wech and Hanns-Bruno Kammertons are directing the film, which executive producer Rocket Science says counts on the “full support of Schumacher's family”.
The film will "explore the many facets of this complex man – the merciless Formula One driver, the ambitious boy with the dream, the down-to-earth mechanic, the dependable team player, and the devoted friend and father".
It will include interviews with his father, wife and children and previously unseen archival footage, including scenes of the legend at home.
"It is an important year for Michael Schumacher," said producer Benjamin Seikel.
"His 50th birthday (was) in January and the 25th anniversary of his first world championship victory in November.
“We are thrilled to have the trusting co-operation of Michael Schumacher's family and management. Without their support this film would not have been possible."

It almost seems cruel to explain nothing for almost six years. Lots of fans genuinely loved him. Just hope they have a good reason.
