DOJ hates freedom but loves fear and $$$
I realize that the recent seizure and shutdown of 3 reputable poker sites by the US FEDS doesn't directly affect the HorseBetting industry but does anyone here use an offshore book(and needed rebates offered by them) as opposed to legal ones such as xpressbet and twin spires?

and if so, anyone try and make a withdrawal over the last couple of days and had any problems doing so?

    and

potential sweating of the security of your funds in near future or plans to discontinue betting horses via offshore?

I would never use an offshore book for horse racing since they have caps on how much you can win per race.

I am one of the lucky ones who live in a state where i have many US based legal sites to choose from but i do know theres horse players out there that have to use offshore books because they may live in a state where there not allowed to use US sites.

I just hope those people are being very carful now.

The way horse racing has failed to attract younger gamblers to the track, many states will be lucky to have tracks and otb's. Poker and horse racing are an ingrained part of american history, lets hope one day the government and entrepreneurs recognize this and get these pastimes booming again.

yes, the median age at the track is about 65...simulcasting to confusing for new players...too many tracks..too many races...it was better when you could only bet on track and had to go to it...no replacement horse players means doom for the industry...

I think the industry can attract new players. From reading posts and such I know they haven't, but I think they can. How, I don't know.

I think that if you get people to do it once or twice then they will like it. Let them witness what some of these huge payouts are with minimal investment. I would think the fact that it is legal to do online would be a big plus too. Market this sport correctly and it can flourish.

Although I have never been to a track, I believe the simulcasting is fine and actually plays to the younger crowd that is said to not be interested.

I just started about two months ago and I am hooked

People who replied didn't get to the point of your post. As the first guy said, most offshore books have caps on exotics and such. Big deal. Don't play horses there if you are shooting off p 4's. There are a good handful of books out there like bookmaker, carib, wagerweb, betvegasvic, Betphoenix, that have great caps on payouts. i know wagerweb for example has a 20k payout limit on major tacks per race. I used them as an example because i play there. They may have a 3k cap on Finger Lakes, so I'm not going to play a ticket loaded with bombs. You just have to understand your surroundings. Also, to simplify it even more. Whether you are playing sports, horses, or casino at these books, it is all the same.

Rob is right, my post was a little off topic, it was more on the offshore sportsbooks vs. betting at the track. The problem I have and many people have is we cant use twin spires and xpressbet These are xpress bets regulations
              • You cannot be a resident of the following states and territories: Alaska, Arizona, District of Columbia, Georgia, Hawaii, Maine, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, Nevada, North Carolina, South Carolina, Utah, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands.
              • Pennsylvania residents located within 35 miles of Harrah's Chester Downs, Philadelphia Park, Penn National, Pocono Downs or Presque Isle are prohibited from opening XpressBet accounts.
              • Canadian residents may not open new accounts.

twin spires states forbidden- in Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Puerto Rico, The Virgin Islands, Canada

The best answers I could have questions is

and if so, anyone try and make a withdrawal over the last couple of days and had any problems doing so?

potential sweating of the security of your funds in near future or plans to discontinue betting horses via offshore?

I havent made a withdrawal at bookmaker, dsi, 5dimes,or any of my books since the friday poker crackdown but I really am not worried at all. These guys running Pokers stars and full tilt were idiots to do their processing the way they did it and to advertise the way they did all over american tv. This all concerned a guy from Australian turning evidence and processor sleaziness with American mainland banks, I dont usually get checks sent as payouts but the ones I have received from dsi, bookmaker etc. have been from Canadian banks.

These guys from strs, tilt,ub were incredibly arrogant ,basically on tv, all over the place and using american banks, that indictment all comes down to how the money was processed and the way they operated with some of these banks like the one in utah.

I have heard of people losing money in bad sportsbooks like sbg global and I never played at wsex but the best thing is to just check the ratings and play at a well rated book. I never lost any money when neteller pulled out or when matchbook and pinnacle moved out etc. I would prefer this were all legal and regulated to protect my money, but I dont feel bookmaker is anything like poker stars.

sorry, I helped go off topic

I did get the point of the original post, but I had no input on that so I was just responding to one of the other posts.

I never will understand why I can't spend my hard earned money anywhere and on anything I want to spend it on short of hiring a hit man or something like that. I live far away from any casinos or racetracks so online is really the only option I have without driving half a day.

I have had a little bit of money tied up with a processor for several months now. I am as pissed at myself as anyone because I had the money sitting there instead of depositing it in an account. I deposited half of my money and was sitting on the other half until one of my accounts got low. I need to check on their status again since it has been a while. The companies name was automatically edited out of this post by SBR.

That is crazy the states you listed in that some sites can be in some states and not others then other sites are the opposite. I can join xpressbet and twinspires, but I can't join TVG. I don't really understand why that is, but I have never looked into it.

why would you want to join tvg in the 1rst place?they charge you $.25 a bet,in case you did'nt know.newbies do not pay the $.25 rip-off for a month or so along with video streaming, but, after that free trial they sink their big hooks into you.
                  good luck
